Hey.... I CAN FEEL PHIL !!
I can feel it coming in the air tonight, oh Lord
And I've been waiting for this moment for quite a while, oh Lord
Can you feel it coming in the air tonight, oh Lord, oh Lord

Well I remember, I remember, don't worry, how could I ever forget
It's the first time, the latest version that I've heard

But I know the reason why you keep your silence UP, oh no you don't fool me
Well the hurt doesn't show, but the plain looking knobs...
It's no stranger to you and me

I can feel it in the air tonight, oh lord, oh lord, oh lord, oh lord
Well I've been waiting for this moment for all my lifequite a while, oh lord, oh lord.... oh lord
Dudum dudum dudum dudum dududum...I can feel it...

Are these ebowed acoustic guitars? I'm hearing that "physical" sound in there. Ebow on piano strings is fun as well.

Beautiful example as always, Simon. Glad you like Smooth Room! For some reason, I find Smooth Plate even smoother and clearer. I would have thought it would be more metallic, but it ended up very transparent. Shows you what I know.

I love love love this sound. What is the type of synth/sample being used?

It sounds like Sampleconstruct is starting off with the Attack knob set to 100%, which creates a reverse reverb sound in the Nonlin mode. It sounds like Size is somewhere in the 50% range. As the track progresses, the Attack knob is turned past 50% (gated reverb) to 0% (a very short, natural decay). The Attack knob is then turned back to 100% slowly, and the Size control is increased, to create a much longer reverse reverb sound.

Yeah, it's ebowed acoustic western guitar, occasionally touching the strings with the magnetic field getting that sizzling sound, also tremolating on the frets while playing later in the sample. Layered with more pure, non-sizzling ebow tones in the same patch, multisampled. The sizzle sample runs in granular mode, the pure tones in normal sampling mode with some LFO pitchmod. I tried the Smooth Plate for this too, but at the more huge settings I wanted for this, the Room somehow sounded wider. Great algos, the Dirt algos are very nostalgic somehow, I can almost hear my old EMT in there.

Oh, these are samples and electronic synths sounds I made with MachFive 3 from my latest MachFive library, a patch named Electro Kit. And your analysis is of course spot on, that's what I did in the demo - 10 points out of 5!

Thank you - WOW is a word I also often use, when I can't find any other suitable word in whatever language :)

Is that western as in Western civilization, or western as in country western?

I love when ebowed strings bounce around and off of things. Such a great sound.

Interesting. I gotta look at the code and see the differences. Linking up perceptual descriptions to algorithm nuances is kind of a big deal to me. :D

The Dirty algorithms are all about that fixed point dirt.

..as in country western, I bought that 2 years ago when I sampled it for my Alchemy Bank Warped Strings, now I'm sampling it again using the ebow for my HALion project, and a great couple they are.
