I just downloaded version 2.53 & could not even get started.
1. Had to reset my audio device all over again several times before it was recognized by RC.
2. Until the audio device was recognized, the cursor would not move & the demo file would not play.
3. Could not import any MIDI file. Sorry, is this disabled in the demo? Because it worked partially in the previous version.
4. When I clicked on the timeline, RC crashed.

It seems I can't (or I don't know how to) move this thread to 'Bug Reports'.
I could move it to a different forum, but that does not help

mbira1, I installed version 2.53 demo to OS X 10.6.8 and I did not experience any of the issues you reported. There were only minor changes since the previous version, so there is no reason it should behave differently.
I was able to import MIDI files, play back the templates, etc.
The program does not work without setting the audio device properly, so if it could not initialize the audio device for any reasons that could be a problem. When no audio device is set, playback will not work.
