I currently use creative and m-audio cards, the creative ones i've used over the years always seem to have glitches, for instance the awe32 which I might add at the time cost a lot of money for its day but had a major glitch in that it would not if you were using a duron processor play wave files.. creative were less than honest or forthcoming despite loads of calls to try and resolve the problem but eventually an article in one of the more popular mags told all. Secondly my latest creative card has a few real irritating glitches and questionable ethical registration procedure, you can't register your card without providing some real confidential information and including for instance date of birth - i found that unbelievable with all the issues on identity theft etc that they could be so irresponsible, I don't care what they say about confidentiality we all know systems can be hacked, lastly on using xp I had to download a complete new set of creative drivers and I mean a full 10Mb plus for the card to work properly, and I can assure you previously on Win98 there were enumerous occasions when the sound system 'hung.. froze the system etc,
M-Audio nice card cool sound and very little probs other than my card doesn't have a midi interface, which is taken care of by my uno usb cable unit, drivers easy to install and registration straightforward, choosing again - I'd go for the m-audio and that includes the freebie software included.
