Mentioning this in case it matters to anyone:

The new VST Channel panel is much bigger and wider than before. It cannot be sized, so be prepared to lose even more horizontal space.

Just finished some work in Cubase 7.5 running on Mac OS 10.9.

Seems stable with CPU use, lots of little improvements visually, and no crashes so far.

Post

Only had time for a quick look at it so far.
I like the new reverb and Magneto2 is nice.
Looking forward to delving deeper over the coming days.

Stable with CPU = stabler than 7.06?

Those who have halion 1 / halion sonic 1 is the library of the SE 2 installed in a totally different place (safe at least to work independenly)? Also how different is it from V1? What about the expansion libraries? :?
Last time I installed Halion 3, I could chose where to install the content.

Everything Halion Sonic SE will be put into "Shared Folders" or similar of your user account.

Can't comment on HSSE2 and it's content - no demo yet (read a couple of posts above, it'll be out End January/Early Feburary), and I think I won't be updating this time around either and rather wait for C8. For obvious reasons.
Thanks Compyfox.

Hallion v4 could have some overlapping material with the new SE. Also my expansions like Dark Planet would open with both plugins(?) Who knows.... Until I update my Cubase (if ever) I have plenty of time to sort these things out.

I could've sworn it was only Hall at one point. But I was going by memory rather than checking.. soooo ;)
Well, at least it's good to know I wasn't imagining things!

The current HSSE2 build is from October 25th, whereas HALion is from July 1st.
Pretty funny that the free version has more reverb features than the paid.. ;)

Not too excited about the other toys or content included, but I will get this regardless because I always like to stay up to date with the DAW.

I did a very quick test with the verb.. Seems to be nice for the "vintage digital" type of reverbs. Not as smooth as newer verbs like VRoom etc. Will surely have it's place in my setup as a go to 80s vibe verb though.. or for rock stuff.

This new reverb is based on Wizoo algorithms (W2/W5?) without the convolution part. Afaik some developers from this company are working now for Steinberg.

So far, yes, it appears 7.5 runs a bit smoother CPU wise for me. Also, on 7.0.6 I still had some occasional crash on exits, and I haven't seen those with 7.5.

Wizooverb is a favorite of mine. I haven't used it on Mac in years because it was never ported to universal binary. It would be great to see it brought back in some form. (It would be nice to get the whole package though - algorithms and HDIR convolution.)

Is this "inside information" about the Wizooverb/REVelation reverb connection or was this announced someplace?

I think I heard it mentioned here

Does anyone know if there are any discounts available anywhere on the upgrade from 7 to 7.5?

Or best just to download directly from Steiny?

Cheers

So many plugins, so little time...

After some real work with C7.5 and even going back to an old C6 project to import it to C7.5, it's running smooooth. Really great update. Great job Steinberg!

Btw. if anyone is interested; my experiences with instrument tracks has been very positive. The rack is still there if you absolutely want it, but you don't really need to use it anymore. That makes things a bit more easier and streamlined. So even the fact that the rack gui is a bit wider doesn't bother at all.

Magneto2 and Revelation have been great, but i think the instrument tracks are the real reason for many to upgrade. Or the track versions thing... which i haven't yet tested properly. Still many goodies to go through

It seems to be few euros less on some retailers.. but you can get it quicker as a download from Steinberg.. and no postage fees.
