Have you tried disabling the automatic hitpoint generation ?billcarroll wrote:Here is a more complete list of steps ...SJ_Digriz wrote:hmm.. I'm on windows and don't have this. Are you using group edit, or just a single chopped audio file?billcarroll wrote:I'm getting a crash in Cubase 7.5 every time I try to quantize sliced audio. Slice on hit points, quantize, beach ball ... Cubase remains locked up and unresponsive until I force quit.
I'm on Mac OS 10.9, Cubase 7.5 64-bit
Anyone else able to reproduce this?
I'm going to post in Steinberg forums as well.
1. I create a new audio track,
2. then chop some audio from an existing audio track using range selection and Alt + Drag selection to the new track.
* Note, audio file is a WAV and about 8 min in length, chopped section is 1 bar long at 4/4
3. Double click the file and select create slices from the hit points menu
4. Double click on the file in arrange again to open (is this the group editor?)
5. Hit Command + A to select all the pieces
6. then Q to apply quantize
-> results in beach ball and frozen Cubase 7.5
Cubase 7.5 official announcement!

yes .. it will install and work fine. You just won't have the new edm synth macro page/presets.TheoM wrote: Can i safely install just 7.5 for now and not worry about halion? I mean i have Halion sonic 1 installed anyway (the full version) which i am happy with, don't know if *SE* 2 would add that much besides maybe some new sounds?

They use Amazon. Just try clicking Download again.fandango wrote:Tell me about it!
After 6 failed downloads at home, I had to remote into my work PC, download over their fast network (still failed several times), got lucky, moved to my unix share, used 'rsync' with --partial --progressive to transfer to my local machine over ssh.
STEINBERG, SERIOUSLY, STAAAAAAHP.
(or use a torrent server for your files - I mean, what's the big secret?? Either you trust the dongle to protect your software or you don't???? Or stick it on fekkin' Softpedia like FruityLoops...)
Now that I have got the RAGE out of the way, I must say that 7.5 is performing quite nicely here and I'm liking the updates.

Um, they do. Otherwise you wouldn't be able to download a fully functional trial, which you can convert into a full version by activating your license.fandango wrote: STEINBERG, SERIOUSLY, STAAAAAAHP.

..what happened? This is in Cubase Artist 7.5
I've tried repairing, reinstalling, rebooting.. nothing seems to resolve the issue.

My link is from the grace update page after entering licence key. It's definately the bowels of the Steinberg labyrinth from whence this monster is being retrieved. If there's a better route I'd A) love to know it. B) love to know why Steinberg isn't using that link by default.cnt wrote:They use Amazon. Just try clicking Download again.
I've read this sentence several times and I'm not sure if it's re-emphasizing what I already said or attempting to tell me something I don't already know? Let me to thinking you thought that Steinberg wouldn't want their installers to be distributed, because they have piracy concerns. If that's not the case, nevermind.I mean, what's the big secret?? Either you trust the dongle to protect your software or you don't????

Yep, I was criticizing Steinberg for not making their installers widely available on more reliable servers because they are safe from piracy concerns as the full versions require dongle. My bad, sarcasm fail on my part.

Just do the entire 7.5 install if you ask me. It has Groove Agent and all the other content and the new HS2-SE which is pretty nice. You just won't get all the content for it.
You don't have Halion or HS2 already do you? If so, don't run the content installer on Windows just yet. It seems to jack something up. Several of us have support tickets open on the issue.

oh and FWIW, GA4-SE is a pretty kick assed little drum sampler. I'm not really a drum machine kind of guy ... BFD3 with full blown kits and live played MIDI recordings to tweak is my speed ... But, the updated editing in that thing is pretty solid for a freebie/included VSTi. The Borgz really have stepped up their game on included content (Regardless of your opinion if they should be doing that or not).
