I have a Halion 5 ticket open, but the plugin stuff seems to have loaded correctly here. Sorry.

Thanks at least for replying to me. I'm not a ghost.

I think my mistake was installing into the old Cubase Artist 7 folder thinking this was like an upgrade patch. Apparently that isn't how Steinberg does things. So I uninstalled Cubase Artist 7.5 then Cubase Artist 7 and tried again with just Cubase Artist 7.5 and still no more effects visible than on the screenshot. boo.

Maybe they can upgrade my Artist license to a full Cubase Cubase license to fix it!

lol, sorry dude .. upgrades can be a bummer sometimes. I have hundreds of presets I've done in H5 that I can't get at conveniently. So, I know the pain. And, I spend a good 50% of my DAW time in Halion.

geez Theo, that is a tough question. I use VSL for strings and SAMS for horns.

HSO is "ok" in a minimalist way. Like if you were doing pop ballads 24/7 it would probably do great. But, if you want to do anything with even marginally complex melody lines with articulations, it won't suffice. It does have some good content, but hardly self sufficient.

For the upgrade price, I'd probably jump on it though. It isn't bad, it's just limited.

By the way, I do use the Legato string patches in conjunction with the VSL to get a bigger Orchestra Marcato.

you can do mock ups, but scoring is where all those extra articulations start coming into play. Again, I don't want to trash HSO. It sounds ok and in some cases like a few of the percussion pieces, it is really good, if again limited. But, once you've played one of the big boys, it's hard to not be a bit snobby.

Is that "Steinberg list" a new thing in 7.5? I have Artist 7, and the FX folders are on the same level as my 3rd party plugins...
