No way does that explain 3 months of missed work.dalor wrote:Developers with families.Ogopogo wrote:Are we talking about apathetic college kids here or professionals with customers to please?dalor wrote:Consider this year gone, January wasted on Holidays, February slowly back to work. True. Those screenshots remind me, one of the few things we haven't seen in depth now is the layered edit. Maybe they'll make a video for that soon.TheoM wrote:http://www.musicradar.com/computermusic ... ive-553523

I'd be extremely surprised if the Bitwig team are taking a holiday this year

What's another 3 months of 36 months (started in 2010) development so far? 8.3%
These guys must surely be burned out by now I'm sure they will use this time of the year to get a good break from the project and refill some energy - would make perfect sense to me anyway.

^Your making this all up off the top of your head. It doesn't make any sense that they would take a 3 month break so close to release with everyone yelling at them to get it out asap, and their own prediction for getting it out this year that they would break.

Everyone is making things up in this thread (except that guy who has some insights). Everyone yelling will not help make this any quicker whatsoever. They missed November and we have only 16 days till Christmas, go figure. Someone said in the last beta new features were added, which means they will have to be bug tested, reports will be flying in and ensure they are stable. Again IMO, anytime after March 2014 - maybe. NAMM on Jan 23 would be nice but won't get my hopes up. All we do is speculate - and cats

Actually last beta didn't bring any new features, just bug fixes and overall improvements, according to Thomas.dalor wrote: Someone said in the last beta new features were added, which means they will have to be bug tested,

While we all had a good and harmless joke at the extended beta, I'll be very interested to see how many people who are taking the delay really personally will actually even buy the thing when it releases.
I know for - certain - at least a few people hounding them across the net just want the release to hurry up already so they can get the crack faster.
We should create a "Who Actually Bought Bitwig?" thread here after it releases.

I missed that! That could be a possible 1.0 release candidate!??pc999 wrote:Actually last beta didn't bring any new features, just bug fixes and overall improvements, according to Thomas.dalor wrote: Someone said in the last beta new features were added, which means they will have to be bug tested,

Well just cause lots of people are making up baseless stuff it doesn't mean we need to add to it. People yelling probably will make a difference with something like knocking off work for 3 months. I mean people complaining about them being late amounts to people questioning their competence. That means they could actually lose customers. Theo for example expects that because of how long it has taken them to get v1 out that it will take years for them to rectify the major missing features. Since people have already been complaining just because it isn't out, it will be worse if they actually missed the deadline that they actually did set. So while the bitwigs have said they are going to take their time and they may miss that deadline if they need to, I don't see how they would do something that drastic and risk the bad press needlessly. You might say there's no such thing as bad press, but that really isn't the case.dalor wrote:Everyone is making things up in this thread (except that guy who has some insights).
And I was going to say how it was a minor update but someone beat me too it.

Beta testers could probably deny, but not confirm that. When Thomas said it was beta 8.1 that was released he didn't seem to hint there was anything special about it so I kind of assumed that the other betas had .x versions and that it was a normal part of the process. If that's true we can only guess when an rc is coming.dalor wrote:I missed that! That could be a possible 1.0 release candidate!??

That is true if they had released a public deadline, like Microsoft has a fixed date and will release on that given date no matter what. Knocking off 3 months of work is speculation on your end, too lolOgopogo wrote:Well just cause lots of people are making up baseless stuff it doesn't mean we need to add to it. I believe they said they would "definitely" release it this year. So that's really about as official as many people need to lose faith when they pass it.
It may technically be speculation since I don't know the truth, but assuming they are going to keep working on a normal work schedule when they have a job to do is a much safer bet than saying they aren't.
But maybe were not going to see eye to eye here.

Here's where they said definitely this year. This was halfway through October so maybe they will hold to it. Personally I won't hold it against them if they do go a little over if they have to but I would love to get my hands on it and considering that I have a lot of respect for them I think it would be a bit of a shame if they were to lose face and customers over it. Remember Live is always there to grab potential customers who feel Bitwig isn't worth waiting for. In fact if Live were to announce that another heavily requested feature such as fixed PDC were coming soon that could take a chunk out of Bitwig's customer base.
