sorry theo,
I am behind in my schedule today so I will have to come back to you tomorrow on this.
One little twinkie: it is completely open so you can see exactly how the experts program a preset and make an ordinary sample sound great. It is great fun to work with. In one sense it is like Nexus - but open-ended so you can use your own samples but you can make it sound completely different to nexus.
I have not got any of the vengeance soundpacks but this is where I think you can really make phalanx your own. It will load any wav file and this includes the battery 3 library, any sample cd wavs and the maschine library.
I have all the phalanx expansions and premier library; it will take me a little time to get back to you on these libraries
back with news tomorrow

Hi Theo,
I promised to get back to you today.
I noticed you just asked Manuel about import formats in a separate thread - Phalanx imports wav files but I can't get it to import REX2.
Since it imports wav files I can import my Battery 3 and Maschine sample libraries and I just discovered it will import also my Kore 2 samples which is useful 'cos I just lost Kore 2 by upgrading to Maschine 2.
I have cut up so many sample cd libraries in the past with Wavelab and it imports these wav files also so it certainly is not a ROMPLER.
Ok back to Phalanx
Phalanx 272 mb
Basic content 494 mb
Premium content 307 mb
XP1 Effects 32
XP2 Dubstep 29
XP3 Trap 54
XP4 Trance 59
XP5 Electro 1 43
XP6 Pure Bassess 93
You can also import Metrum content and get the entire Metrum within Phalanx
Looking at the basic and premium libraries combined it is divided into Sample content and Preset content.
Sample content is around 6000 samples in all sorts of different categories. presets are a bit more puzzling; I reckon just over 50 bank presets (i.e. with 2-16 padslots filled but only 109 single presents: arps (11), Bass (27), FX (28), Synth (26) and Voice (17. So most of the sample content is so far unused.
The sample content of the expansions is much smaller but they have useful numbers of presets.
The presets are like mini tutorials.
Sample quality is normal but when you hear a sample in a preset the difference is huge and because it is open ended you can see just how Manuel and his team programmed the preset and there are a lot of tools to change and shape the sound. This is very different to Nexus which sounds great but is closed so you can't see how they did each preset.
That is why I went off to explore importing my own wav files and it is the most fun I have ever had with a sampler. It is possible in a short time to make your own wav files sound much better. This is not Kontakt or Halion but is really well put together.

But how do you see how a sample is made ??
And what can you change when importing your own sample ? So how to make it sound better ?
Thank you

HydeKyll,
have a look at the vengeance website and all the videos for phalanx.
Each Pad can contain 2 samples and for each preset Manuel and his team have samples with loops, amp, filter and pitch envelopes, arp, trancegate, modulation and lots of effects. You can see in each preset how they have changed the parameters for each sample. Now you can import your own wavefiles and overwrite the waves in each preset BUT you retain the programming that vengeance has done. result you ordinary samples are polished. Lots and lots of fun and the presets are great tutorials. In XP6 they showcase the new arp and trancegate.

Is it true that you are not allowed to use the, music Sequences and bass loops commercially?
Look atbthe licence agreement on their website www.refx.com
