I'm not sure, based on the website it seems that Aria is more or less put on ice?

Kontakt is a bit more busy than that, and lets keep it that way ;)

That was a long sentence.
I understand that. I was making a joke. We'll show more as we get closer, and I find it hard to believe that others find it hard to believe that we're not shooting in the dark with product decisions for the last 17 years or so and use actual data and insights all along...

Edit - Basically, I do find it hard to believe that people worry that we haven't heard the suggestions (though I'm sure, as always, you can't please all of the people all of the time). I know others may basically almost fully crowdsource their UI design but we do take suggestions which is part of the reason I'm here, and we do also have multiple (many) points of data, reference, and testing to rely on.
Oh I'm absolutely positive iK has listened to the input about ST2's gui over the years but I also can't believe that at some point in this 5 year journey you wouldn't see the benefit of showing alpha versions and seeking input....from the potential customer base.....in order to avoid the same thing that has happened with ST2 over the years.......no you can't please everybody but the goal of any product is to please as many as you can to induce them to spend money...certainly your beta team has given it's input but there's a few hundred thousand members here and other sites whose input could be invaluable.....that's all I'm saying. Obviously with only 40 or so days to NAMM the GUI is already set in stone so it's too late now but judging from the snippets I've seen so far I guarantee the Orange will generate comments.....unless of course the entire UI is customizable including the graphics of loaded instruments......yes there will be those who love the new gui and those who won't.....it's the percentage of those two groups that's the point......

As you know I've said it time and again that I'm a huge IK fan....but I'm also not a blind sycophant....if there is something I think needs to be said then I'm going to say it.......and in the end if it's a good deal I'll buy ST3.....unless of course the GUI sucks..... :hihi:

I don't think Kontakt could pull off such a simplistic GUI due to what it allows one to do with the libraries. Perhaps the K Player since it doesn't allow much in the way of making changes, but I think even that is a stretch.

Personally I've not had the viewing problems many complain about; however, I will say that if I was doing more in the way of adjusting parameters, etc., I may not be so pleased either. Still, searching for instruments has not been much of a problem here.

So, I asked earlier and I think the post went unnoticed.....does anyone know if ST3 will be VST3 or better or is it following the now discontinued VST2 protocols?

Thanks!

Happy Musiking!

You might consider taking your own advise; here, you are simply complaining, like everyone else, about the "complaining" you don't like. ;)

so evil..
I don't understand what this should prove... You might want to spell it out clearly, please make your point.

Obviously, you're right! I might take my own advice and I will - still, you'll see no complaints from me other than against totally irrelevant moaning about something you did not see, test, use or buy. More to the point, against "professional" complainers...

And, unlikely many, I did read all this long thread from the beginning. The amount of cr@p posted against SP3 really does not make any sense - it's even lame, but yes, no problem, just continue as there's freedom of speech! ;)

Anyway, sorry for medical reference... It was exaggerated line - but I'm sure your helmet protected you against it just fine!

I'm sure the GUI will be shown at the right time. If you expect it sooner than that, you either don't understand marketing, or you play not understanding it (which I think is what it is.)

Peace out.

Aria just released 2 or 3 updates last week. 1.6.7 I think is current?

My complaints about Kontakt is it seems to have some of its graphics backwards, A large library icon that opens to tiny (as small as the current ST2) fonts. And the little mixer that I have to remind myself is even there. The fact that I have to scroll down to see anything other than the first instrument... It's a little bit of tedium in many ways the other two are not is all I'm saying.

Hmmm I am surprised to see some OK with the size of the text in the current version, but I'm used to hearing the opposite is all. I have perfect vision, but I am not getting any younger so I am on the "make it bigger" train, and I'm happy it will be done that way.

@Teksonik - You know I'm happy you aren't a blind sycophant, I didn't mean to sound a bit harsh on you. It is all good vibes over here.

And 24MTSn has no association with IK Multimedia directly except possibly being a customer, so I know you are thinking the worst as always murnau but you're creating controversy out of nothing in this case. Sorry.

Ah I was still on the other subject that alleged that some in this thread would be us (I think that would include you - *shiver* at the prospect! - I am teasing, good-natured, by the way). That's what I thought you were on about.

Even though the posts were positive for IK, I have to say that (*shiver* again at the prospect!) you have a point. It is good to keep it civil as we're supposed to and the fact that you and I can exchange good-natured - if unflattering - photos and such back and forth is a good indication that all can be civil indeed.

I didn't mention that because I thought it went without saying. :hihi:

Peter, you've shown a lot of character. So, thanks for being thick skinned.

This whole thread has been awesome for getting to know IKM on a more personal level.

And I hope you have a supervisor or somebody above you who's seen this thread and is going to give you a raise or something. :tantrum:

And I hope you've read my posts, even though they're longwinded. :hihi:

I've decided to still get the SD-50, but I've got my eye on IKM. :D
