Which synth is killing Sylenth1?

sylenth1 is (was) amazing just for what it was (and wasn't); not perfect, or definitive, but...essential, distinctive. i abandoned it (after begging lennard for a 64bit AU for a few years) when logic X came out.
for me...spire. similar in may ways, deeper in others. spire still needs more soundsets (i had hundreds with sylenth1)...and it needs serious cpu optimization on OS X. SERIOUS.
but it's a killer, and when (if) we see a 64bit AU of sylenth1...well, will cross that bridge when we get to it...

true, because the whole sylenth1 story is like watching the fall of a former child star. people love to talk about it, feel better and then move on with their own things. humans..Nielzie wrote:The fact that after all these years that Sylenth has been out there, we still find discussions like this here on such regular basis, almost says enough

Whoever wants music instead of noise, joy instead of pleasure, soul instead of gold, creative work instead of business, passion instead of foolery, finds no home in this trivial world of ours.

Sylenth1 has very simple digital waveforms and filters, especially compared to the rich/complex tonality of more modern instruments like Diva, ACE, Monark and Spire, but you actually get quite a lot of subtractive sound potential for extremely low CPU. A lot of its enduring popularity is probably due to that. It also has very snappy non-linear envelopes, wide stereo oscillators, huge detuned unisons, flexible effects, and can deliver that bright edgy timbre so appealing to lots of EDM subgenres. Spire and Dune are the only synths I've seen so far that I could imagine taking Sylenth1's place, assuming Lennar ceases development, but the CPU consumption is a big problem when producers are stacking tons of synth voices to fill out the frequency spectrum. That's why Sylenth1 and Nexus seem to reign supreme for lots of modern dance music.

Have you seen the new video showing the cpu being used for sylenth1, spire v1.08 and spire v1.10? 1.10 is using half as much as 1.08 and about the same as sylenth1. Could be some massive cpu reductions coming up.fisherKing wrote: for me...spire. similar in may ways, deeper in others. spire still needs more soundsets (i had hundreds with sylenth1)...and it needs serious cpu optimization on OS X. Perhaps it would be better to look at what adds to the demise of all software.
Lack of support, updates, improvements in component usage and bit porting.
Lack of third party development and community forums to maintain cult status.
