I'm not that familiar with MusicRadar. What's the implication?

I didn't know they were even part of the top 15
(Guess I better get Harmor to catch up with you). ;)

So what are the 'other nine'?
:hihi:

it's so pro what else?..
Whoever wants music instead of noise, joy instead of pleasure, soul instead of gold, creative work instead of business, passion instead of foolery, finds no home in this trivial world of ours.

No other nine - I said I had six of the top fifteen...

And it really was a joke because of all the GAS and remorse in this place lately...

I do have too much stuff though...

"What follows is our guide to the 39 best VST, AU and RTAS plug-in synths in the world today. Compiled over the course of several years, it's been updated to reflect the market in 2013, and is bigger and better than ever.

Well I own a ton of synths. And I'm an idiot. At least when it comes to having a rational reason for owning them all. I don't.

Not being a programmer or dev, I don't really have the appreciation for the architecture of these little beasts, or their true potential, that many of you more technically minded do.

What I do know about is sound. And I had a lot of fun with Sylenth1 back in the day. Fairly easy interface for tweaking, and a lot of good people made patches for it.

But time marches on. All the other synths in this thread are pretty great. And the increased competition over the years has led to devs paying more attention to features, ease of use, and preset content. You really can't buy a modern synth these days that doesn't cover all the bases. Or Basses. :D

Personally, I think that Synthmaster 2 is fast heading to the top of the pile in terms of being recognized for great sound and features. I reach for it more than any other piece of gear these days. [The acid test for me is the collection of B3 emulations, complete with mod-Leslie sounding FX, that are very playable. Very tough for a synth to pull this off, IMHO.]

I was close getting it this year, especially for the prog rock banks - but opted to get (the rest of) AAS Model pack instead...

Synthmaster was #3 in CM's poll both 2012 and 2013 I think...

Me too. I really try to only consider MY top four and secondary six.
I am looking at Harmor more closely and that really has to be because of GAS.

Or doesn't exist yet?

Sylenth1 won again the musicradar's 2013 best VST plug-in synth... it's a fair contest?

Anyway, it seems like Sylenth1 still rules the vsti world, what do you think?

PS. Please be honest, don't say that other synth is better than Sylenth1 just to annoy Lennard, and stuff like that..

Cheers.

I hope you can understand my poor english.
Its never ruled my vsti world. Its a horrible cheesy synth. I think its very genre specific, and the ppl who like that genre are they same ppl who vote in CM polls....
Well there are those who can make synths sound good, and the others.

Chill Out Sylenth 1

Sylenth Electronica

From our Sylenth 1 Music Box soundbank

Sylenth has its own character, like many other synths ( besides those who barely have one )

Harmor is a special one. It has a tendency to spawn ideas for me. I can't say I could replace it with anything else in sound either. So that's one I would tend to keep if I started downsizing.

I've told myself I can get it when I find it for less then a hundred (I've found it for $103.00) Maybe a dealer's stupid deal or coupon could push me into it. The last stupid deal for Toxic B actually got me to delete/uninstall all the IL demos except for Harmor though. So I've zero'd in and I'm tetering on the fence...

Obviously you only judge a synth by its presets, or have no idea how to program a synth, or haven't ever actually tried to program sylenth. Calling it 'genre specific' just shows the limits of your tiny imagination, or a total inability to program anything on a subtractive synth beyond a supersaw lead.
