Why does everybody say "nice drops" if they hear some EDM track?

I found this incredible video. I'm still amazed at the great sound quality and the hard work of the DJ...

But at least it shows what a drop is even if it isn't really a drop...

I suppose you could think of it like "dropping the needle on the next track" ... if it was 1992 again

That's what I thought it meant the first few times I heard/saw that term. Coming from a musician perspective, "drop" or "drop out" means to stop playing. Besides, a drop (as in ink, or blood) is a small amount, so it makes no sense to refer to the part where everything is big and banging as a drop. Stupid term IMO, but whatever.

Maybe EDM really means "every drop matters"?

EDM Noob doesn't know what a drop is
