There is a place for all types of synthesis. hardware as well as software plus combinations of the two (access virus, arturia origin).
there is no right or wrong, it's purely up to what you find attractive, effective and economical.
Software has a more affordable price point but hardware provides the tactile 'bonus' not provided by pushing a mouse about. There are controllers that give software some kind of physical connection but even the dedicated pieces of gear aren't perfect (ImpOSCar 2 and it's physical controller which I own)
Something like Diva is too complex to have a dedicated controller.
Software is upgraded regularly, hardware isn't (unless it's DSP based)
my two cents.. which is worth 0.00913c after tax, depreciation and sundries.
