So Far so good. great sounds no crashes (Cubase 7.5 MAC).

Also I can drag an Rx2 file from the finder into a Groove Agent SE 4 pad and then right into a Phalanx pad as a wave, so good work flow. Haven't figured out how to slice that onto Phalanx pads yet but must be in the manual or vid somewhere I'm assuming.

A cool feature in the Phalanx tagging system is that you can tag a folder in the finder or (Win Explorer) and it shows up in the Phalanx library. Really handy for those of us - probably many on KVR - who have 100's of thousands of samples. Can the Phalanx database supporting the library entries handle millions of samples?

FR: Would like to see a vertical scroll feature as even though I have 27 inch monitors the Phalanx gui is still slightly cutoff at the bottom in 1200x900 mode

back at it...

Hi C-note

you can resize the whole Phalanx GUI by pressing on the glasses on the upper left corner. So it can fit even smaller resolutions on laptops etc...

dont forget to close/open the GUI after setting a zoom %

Disc Streaming for 2-3MB of Drum Oneshots? Not really necessary, this is better loaded into the RAM

btw you can load Metrum Presets into a Metrum Channel. Just Rightclick on a Phalanx Sample Pad and select "Metrum Mode"

I really recommend watching all 10 tutorial videos, after this you are firm with every feature (except the new ones which came with 1.5). You do not need to read the manual then.

a new 1.5 feature is also, the prev/next sample. Just select a sample pad and hit prev/next or even random on the top black bar in the center. This will step to the next sample in its folder.

here are the videos

Why even demo it if you had no interest in buying it before even demoing it?

I just expected more for that money. I mean omnisphere absolutely wipes the floor with it "content wise", as does alchemy.

ok....just remember though that developers are humans with feelings too..

I am still demoing, I wished there was a package with the single version only with little or no samples.. because I think I would have more use for that than what is currently available.....But I speak for me only.

but yeah, I don't even know Manuel, but to me your review came over as unnecessarily abrasive...

just my two cents.
take care

Thanks for the info Manuel.

Was going to compare Maschine 2.0 to Phalanx but decided its impossible to do so completely until I spend a few more days evaluating.

Some points:
Phalanx sounds incredibly good for what it is and while Maschine has 10 times as many kits (presets in Phalanx speak) I would be hard pressed to say Maschine is better because Phalanx is a very focused product.

In software features Maschine wins handily but then again Phalanx is not claiming to be a full sampler and has no slicing, Rx2 import, Mixer or DAW like sequencer

I give the Phalanx librarian a slight edge for ease of use in handling user samples but Maschine the edge in tagging.

Phalanx's two sample per pad feature is great but the Phalanx samples are already "hot" enough so I'm not sure I would use it much

I have gone through all the videos and may do so again.

I have Maschine Studio, all the Maschine expansions and Komplete 9 ultimate but can see where Phalanx would be of value to a wanna - be EDM producer like me. :)

More later...

Please, if there is no possibility of implementing a slice mode, we could have a method for inserting cue / loop points and markers loop or MIDI triggerable cues, as well as an option for step sequencer. :D

@Theo
I do not want to convince you, it seems Nexus is the better tool for you but it seems you totally missed the point what Phalanx acutally is so let me point it out: Its NOT Nexus, it can not play huge orchestral libraries, pianos etc. It can not do this and its not meant to replace Nexus in any way. Its a pure drumsampler specialist with focus on workflow. Made for (Dance) drum oneshots or crazy fx and modulations, which can also play oneshot synth samples, stabs and chords. And btw it has 6000 samples in the premium version (which is basically as much as 3 of our big samplepacks, buying 3 samplepacks alone would cost nearly the same as a Phalanx)

a prev next button btw is unneeded, since you can just click on a preset or sample with the right mousebutton to instantly load it in the selected samplepad. Its the same 1 click you would need to press on a "next" button, so...
Please, if there is no possibility of implementing a slice mode,
no, like I said, Phalanx is not a loop player, but we plan to release a dedicated plugin, especially for loop slicing and editing in the future :)

ps: and Theo, every pad has a polyphony of 32 voices (a+b) when all 16 pads play, this is a 512 voice polyphony. I think thats enough for drums? :)
