I could buy a used Ipad Air 16gb but I can get a 32gb Ipad 4 3G for the same price. Do you think its still good enough for apps?, I be using BM2 again and Animoog, its more a idea generator than a full on replacement for my DAW.

32GB is plenty for apps. Most of the space on my iPad is taken up by music for iTunes.

thanks, but is it powerful enough?

I ran Animoog on an iPad 1. Garageband, however, was a struggle for that one and the machine has since been donated to GF's mum.

If you're more worried about performance than memory, the newer machine will run more. I've got a reasonable bunch of apps on the replacement machine and they don't take up more than about 6GB.

I'm in the same predicament; don't know how much space i will actually need, looking at either a 32gb 4 or 16gb mini, will primarily be used as a control surface with Lemur and Touchable but will a 4 be powerful enough?

Get the 32GB since the space will fill up really fast. I use an iPad 3 to run Nanostudio and Auria, and it's more than sufficient for the task.

Yes it's fine I run those apps on ipad4 32gb.

Thanks. Decided i need to get my hands on one before parting with the cash, a 32gb is about the same as a laptop so yeah.

the ipad mini is cute an' all, but i'd favour the larger screen estate for anything like the use you want from your ipad

Once samples come to ipad you'll need lots of gigs for them.

Maybe Omnisphere or Kontakt will go ios?

Thanks. Yeah set on a 4, went and checked them out yesterday and a mini would be too small. The guy said it's about the equivalent of a 2 or 3 performance wise but i thought it was the same processor as an Air.

Original ipad mini is basically a small ipad 2. New retina ipad mini is small ipad air in terms of processor.

well the ipad 4 is certainly a step up from 3.

BM2 and Nave and Alchemy work really work, no crashing so far.
