do you like folk music?
do you like trance music?
I wonder, will you like this mix?
experimenting with a morphable gate effect
and some sounds, I came up with this funny track. version 1
it's just 1 minute, but I like it,
the drums are quite lazy, that was the mood
***
New Version! version 2 extended, remixed
http://www.dashsignature.com/mp3/varist ... trance.mp3
***
new version! version 3 the best so far
thanks guys you really helped me,
now it got a new techno flamenco groove!
more accordion parts and a dub feeling that I love,
(just not sure about the mix since I did it at very low volume now)

I suppose you are talking about goa/psy trance and not melodic or epic trance.. ??
the bass kicks lots of butt (well past the normal quota of required buttkicking)
if the bass was faster and you had a louder, pitched kick drum.. then
I'd want to hear a longer version
oh and the gate effect is cool too

I'm not a Trance expert, LOL
ok I'll try the bass faster and a louder, pitched kick drum, starting from this intro,
but wouldn't be then just a trance track with some
folk melody on?
anyway should be cool, <grin>
thanks

who turned on the Super Nintendo?
That's really goofy sounding. When I saw the folk/trance tag, I immediately thought of Sneakerpimps.
Sounds like a lost Zelda game, pretty col.

Trance is usually around 140 beats per, and has a clap on each down beat, as well an open hat between each kick.

Anything is possible really. It's ventures like this that keep music interesting. And by all means; mix and mash. I am reminded of the Gotan-project bringing a new life to the tango.Folk & Trance : is this possible ?!
Get a more pumping kick in there; and yeah tempo-shifts throughout the track will make this an unusual but cool tune. You have the goods to implement folk into a new dimension; I've heard it quite often in your tracks allready

And here I was, expecting something like "Graucholorfen" by Hedningarna. _That_ is what folk music mixed with trance is about for me atleast :)

thanks for the feebacks!
Hedningarna yes! very cool band,
what I heard was more a folk tune smashed on a techno groove though, maybe I didn't heard the track you point,
anyway I wouldn't go straight for the scheme
"get the groove and put extra stuff on it",
I've heard tons of that, like Afroceltic Sound System, or disco samba, disco rock etc...
AFAIK trance is not only a groove, these are typical trance harmonies and dissonances which are quite cool, I just would like to know what to listen to
as I usually avoid trance music, LOL
but I remeber I heard some Psy (I guess) tracks which
were interesting

I immediately thought "hey, this sounds very SNES-like!", just like sickle666 did.
your song is sort of nice and would do well with a video game, I guess.
I believe that you can mixup all sorts of styles & genres. i guess the difficult thing is to do it in such a way that it still actually sounds good & fitting. your song more or less succeeded in that.
and if you tried to make video-game music than you've succeeded marvelously!
I enjoyed listening to it, was fun!
Though I think a more acurate term to describe Hedningarna's music is Neo-Folk. Plus I think they come closer to mixing techno-like music with folk rather than trance. But ofcourse their music is very trance inducing. especially on Hippjokk.
But what ever you may call it Hedningarna rocks! and I hope they will release a new album soon!

I was expecting the same thing.stefancrs wrote:And here I was, expecting something like "Graucholorfen" by Hedningarna. _That_ is what folk music mixed with trance is about for me atleast
