RE: XP/Vista
The plugin itself is compatible with XP and Vista. It's just the InstallShield installer that won't run.
If this is the way things are going to be from now on, then NI has decided to blow off everyone who's happily running XP or Vista.
OTOH, maybe it's just an oversight on their part, a typo in the InstallShield script.

Well, I guess then they are forcing the issue. Most of my installers worked fine with vista. Is this just for selected installers/updates?bbaggins wrote:RE: XP/Vista

How do you know this?bbaggins wrote:RE: XP/Vista

Anyone who can link to a thread or explain how to get around installers demanding Windows 7, I'd appreciate it. If I can get it to work on this installer (I'm still on XP), I might be able to get it to work on the latest Omnisphere installer, which just started crapping out on XP whereas all the other updates worked.

You can 'unpack' .exe files.
Sometimes with WinRAR.
Sometimes with this-

Thats the concept though, I think.

Hmm.. I managed to extract the VST 64-bit version from the packaged installer, move it to a different folder than my normal Effects plugins and load it through my host (with the 'true' install directory not included on my host vst folders list).
However, I already have it installed (thus registry keys setup) which I think would be the hanging point in this.. the dll will likely require activation through the NI Service Center Applet which will be looking at registry keys.
You're better off upgrading to Windows 7 or finding a different Compressor plugin as either would probably be less hassle than getting this one to function in old, crotchety XP..

Me too. I'm thinking Driver since it's relatively inexpensive and I don't have a third party filter plug. It sounds geared towards aggressive EDM, but I'm more of an ambient/film/chillout guy.hibidy wrote:Sweeeeeeetttt!

I got it working in XP. You need to unpack the installer (I used 7zip) then find the .dll and the presets and the supercharger.xml file. The .dll goes into your vst folder, the presets go to C:\Program Files\Common Files\Native Instruments\Supercharger
The supercharger.xml goes to C:Program Files\Common Files\Native Instruments\Service Centre
To authorize I used an older version of Service Centre that came with Driver ...

True, but I'm more concerned about Omnisphere. I extracted the update installer and the only thing of consequence in there seemed to be the .dll. I put it in the VST folder and it seems to be working! (fingers crossed).VitaminD wrote: You're better off upgrading to Windows 7 or finding a different Compressor plugin as either would probably be less hassle than getting this one to function in old, crotchety XP..

Wonderful if it works, did you register it with your serial number through the service center applet? Or are you speaking of Omnisphere?A.M. Gold wrote:True, but I'm more concerned about Omnisphere. I just installed this using wine in linux, with winecfg prefs set to win 7.
So maybe a live linux dvd, like artistX, that has wine pre-installed,
could be used in a pinch, and copy over the parts the installer put in place,
and run Service Center.
Presets are in Common Files\Native Instruments\Supercharger
docs are in Program Files\Native Instruments\Supercharger, and the .dll in Steinberg\VstPlugins.
Good luck.

Bizarrely, I didn't get any of those things when I unpacked with 7zip. I got two more .exe's and a data folder, none of which had any .dll's called Supercharger.thecontrolcentre wrote:I got it working in XP. One is called File Dialog EXE-PlugIn.dll and another is called mEXEFunc.dll and the third is called mMSIExec.dll.
