I'll tell you right now, if you guys are serious about that, I'll be interested. It's high time that SOMEONE put out an updated kickin' B3.

Listen, I've got my 4770 and 16GB of ram........just waiting on you :D

Burillo wrote:so SampleTank 3 isn't a "generic rompler" (meaning, no per instrument custom GUI) anymore? or you've recorded dry samples from organ and use Leslie sim (derived from AT3 obviously) as an insert effect? in any case, great to see that!
SampleTank 3 will be its own unique beast - a workstation at heart but with fantastic sounds, our top-quality FX, great new features, features retained (improved where necessary) that made SampleTank a go-to for many, all of which will make it stand on its own. We will definitely have things like the AmpliTube Leslie (since it is known as being one of the best out there) and such, and there will be other methods of sound manipulation available too.
How about an Arp? :?:

We have something to address that in the works...more info soon.

for the record Native Instruments uses its effects bundle in kontakt too...

these functions may be new in ST 3 but the concept is pretty old...

the crickets are waiting for some real news!!! i.e. like... any new technology on disk streaming?

Yes, glad you got to have a bit of fun with the latest version today. :)

i guess we have to wait to the end of the 1st quarter in 2014 to have fun with any version of ST 3!!!!

but then again...

things could change (again)!!!

since we are still beta testing!!! i.e. "latest version today"...

Yup! Can't decide which sounds better, the effects or the sounds....

that was the same thing i was thinking about with kontakt and halion sonic... cant tell if the sounds or the effects are better...

damn... cant wait for ST 3 is see how it is going to stack up... it about 100 days away before us/the public will be able to put our hands on ST 3... that is if things do not change again!!!

"In the works" with only 36 days to go ? That doesn't inspire a great deal of confidence...... :?

Kontakt recommends streaming their samples from a separate hard drive. Will that also be the case with ST3?

Post

ST3 will stream sounds straight from your dreams :-) the new patented DreamStream®™© technology!

i've mentioned on numerous occasions that the Fairchild from T-Racks is by far one of my favourite and most use comps... to see it in SampleTank will be just dope! it's great that some T-Racks stuff is making its way into SampleTank 3 as well as Amplitube stuff!
I don't know what to write here that won't be censored, as I can only speak in profanity.

You can put your SampleTank 3 samples on an external or internal drive, of course the faster the better, but there will be no recommendations/requirements of a completely separate hard drive.

this is a general hint, of course kontakt work also if you dont install the samples on a seperate hardrive. to ask such a question (and to answer this way) shows a lack of understanding why NI recommend that, to say at least.

from a SOS article i c/p:

First, given the large size of many of today's sample libraries, it makes sense to keep them all grouped together. However, don't dump them all in the same hard-drive partition as your operating system and applications, as this partition will end up many tens of gigabytes in size, and then you're less likely to back it up regularly, which is asking for trouble. It's far safer to store sample libraries on a different partition or drive.
This approach can also help with the second aspect, performance. Even if your samples are loaded into RAM in their entirety, keeping them together on a well-defragmented partition will minimise loading times compared with having them scattered all over the place among the OS and applications on a single huge drive. Moreover, many samplers now stream audio data in 'real time' from the hard drive, so storing them in one place avoids the drive read/write heads having to work harder darting about all over the place, potentially limiting the maximum polyphony you can achieve.
Whoever wants music instead of noise, joy instead of pleasure, soul instead of gold, creative work instead of business, passion instead of foolery, finds no home in this trivial world of ours.

B3 sounds that give vb3 a run for its money would be epic.

As someone soon to purchase the Arturia bundle deal it won't much matter to me if there are lead synth sounds or for that matter any synth sounds at all. The orchestral stuff hopefully has key switching and many articulations while being very much improved. Then again greatly improved and multi sampled and articulate ethnic sounds would be welcome too. Giving East West a run for their money in that area would be a major plus.

I have a lot on my plate to purchase from IK especially in the amplitube area I love AT3 so hopefully my coming purchases in that area will earn me credits towards ST3 as well. Hopefully we get a large group buy that allows us to snag credits on a 4 for 1 basis.

Yes, we're all aware of those general and fairly obvious optimization tips. Nobody said either product wouldn't work, and I should have said "no absolute requirement" because I'm sure we'd recommend that people follow those basic optimization tips you copied and pasted if we were asked and would also assume most that don't ask are quite bright enough to know which would give slight performance advantages (having been in the I.T. in the field of delivering mass amounts live and pre-recorded streamed audio to a global audience, I'm well aware of what real-world gains are had from the things people do to optimize so I have more understanding of these things than you're assuming). I have tons of hairs on my head if you'd like to come split them, you seem quite bent on hair-splitting but also so very interested in SampleTank 3 I take it since you participate so.
