I don't actually own FL. There are so many DAWs, and my resources are limited! Maybe I will have to start asking to see if some companies do indeed give out NFR copies.
The FL Studio demo is almost fully functional, it goes as far as saving projects but they can only be recalled in the full paid version (same installer, registered customers get a keyfile). I think it should be sufficient for your purposes, just remember not to close it until you're done.

Anyone gets this GUI bug as well? :

when I set the Total Lenght parameter to a certain position, then switch to Slot 2 and get back to Slot 1, the Total Length parameter position is not at the position it was before switching to Slot 2. (although the sound didn't switch, just the Total Length parameter visual that changed)

Version 0.6.1b (VST) OSX, Ableton Live.

Yeah, the Lenght Button is pretty confusing. Somehow it fails to show the correct values for Attack, Lenght etc. when switching between them. It confuses me since I'm not sure how it's supposed to work. I'd assume that you can access all the values from the dropdown with it, but then I wonder if I am only supposed to use one of them - which would be a pity...
If it's supposed to allow working with all the values at once, then there is something wrong with the refresh when switching...

Cheers,

Tom

I have these problems/inconveniences in the Mangle with Win 8.1 S1 64bit:

1. Say I put three wav files in the slots 1, 2 and 3 respectively, then spread them all to the same range in the keyboard, then clicking Slot 1 will play also Slot 2 and 3. Clicking Slot 2 will play Slot 2 and 3. Now clicking Slot 3 will play slot 3 only (which is correct). Clicking one slot should play only that slot, right? Because how can I edit/hear the sound of just one slot while muting other slots? It is not convenient to adjust the keyboard range every time I want to edit/hear one slot, right?

2. in the Seq, how can I know the values?! say to modulate the pitch to have some sequence?

3. I can't find any sync with the host in the lfos.

4. I suggest for the future to have modulation indication like in Massive or like in Cypher (i.e. When you move the cursor above the modulator, you see the ranges it modulate on the destinations).

The synth works and sounds great. I'm very happy after all,

Thanks :-)

Re (1) - if you right click the slots, you have the option to mute or solo, copy & paste, etc.

(2) & (3) Agreed.

(4) - Agreed; the synth is very visually orientated, it seems a shame not to apply this paradigm to modulation, like Massive & Circle.

Thanks mcnelson. I really don't know how I didn't right click it! :smack:
Yes, now it is easy to isolate the slots :-)

I think Cypher way is easier for the developer, but of course if he would do it the massive way! wow! that would be really great! Just looking at the colours and you know which modulator it is 8)
Maybe an upgrade to ver 2 later will be a good step and I believe many will gladly upgrade ;-)

Hello! Yes, I got a little slowed down by a small freelance gig, I will be doing some work this weekend. Apart from bug-fixes (there are already quite a few committed) I'd like to address 2 commonly requested features.

First, showing all of the modulation at all times, with the modulations of the currently viewed modulator highlighted. Second, slower LFOs, to allow better continuous sweeping of the position. Or maybe that feature deserves its own control, I'm not sure.

Also, I applied for a KVR forum before Christmas. Now the forum's upgraded, maybe I can get that working for feature requests and bug reports, which I think will be much more efficient than doing it through email.

Oh, and happy New Year all!

I wanted to ask how long the beta pricing will be available, but if answering that would imply a final build before knowing when a final would be complete... I'll ask this way... Do you believe the beta pricing will be available for the next couple weeks?

I wonder about the same thing

I'm a bit vary buying it at this point, if there are few presets included, I would need a bit of those to get me to understand how to shape sounds. Me going at granular synths alone, most often end up sounding like something falling down the stairs

Post

Currently there's only 4 presets in the product but it's a good start to show what the product is capable of. If you're only a presets type then you should wait. But The Mangle is pretty intuitive and easy to use and really fun to experiment with!

This is a fantastic instrument, I bought it just before Christmas last year. Lord knows I didn't really need ANOTHER granular synth, but it's really a very intuitive and fun sound design tool. Great job! :tu:
