If you were to adjust win7 for better performance with audio programs, what would you suggest I do?

Look up the disabling of non-essential services, this is one of the most effective tweaks of all the ones you can do. if you look this up it will tell you which ones to disable. My system has most disabled, I boot in 14 seconds, and 95% of that boot speed increase was from disabling services, not other tweaks.

Unlike xp, win7 handles audio pretty good right off the bat. (the "set performance for background programs" option made a huge difference in xp!) You could turn off gadgets and aero though. Shutdown any unneeded processes.
Btw, anyone notice than windows is actually very backward compatible? More than Mac can say. I ran Myst on Win7 with no problem other than installing an old version of shovkwave or whatever it was.
