Just curious how many out there would be interested in a commercial preset bank for this synth. If so, what style/theme? I got this in the KVR Marketplace several years ago and it has some pretty serious potential beyond what the factory patches had me believe. I'm surprised Symptohm doesn't get mentioned much around here.

It most def would if you checked the sales sub-forum, but unfortunately it's not allowed to mention it's name there ;)

Now that Melohman is 50% off, costing just €50 it is tempting to take another look at it.

But then again, it's getting old, in fact just celebrated 10 years of age:

Can it still cut it in 2014?

I don't use it any more since moving to Mac because I would have to buy it again for another platform which is dumb

I cannot find Melohman on their homepage anymore. Did they abandon it? I still have the free version which could play the presets but without being able to adjust them...

But now there's only Symptohm...

Looks like melOHMan is more like the tag for Ohm Force, as there are several prodcuts tagged with melOHMan:

Symptohm:Melohman
Minimonsta:Melohman
Ohmicide:Melohman

I didn't know that they have a new skin for the free version of Symptohm:Melohman now. I was always alienated by the monster GUI, so I didn't use it...

Melohman is just used for the products that have the "Melohman" midi setup to enable morphing between presets using particular key presses

You mean the old original skin?

The one with the dragon and everything in cursive fonts, I couldn't look at it longer than 20 seconds, so I didn't work with it (and because I cannot adjust the presets)...

So you're not 'funky' then? :D
Ohm Force plugins come with two skins: the classic one gives you all the controls in a neat, old school analogue rack-like interface. It's a good point to start learning and get familiar with the plugin's capabilities. The other one, called 'funky', embodies the true spirit of Ohm Force.

Maybe I'm not ready yet for the true Ohm spirit...

I got it shortly after its release but never used it much - I always found it too hard to get usable sounds out of it, though it is very powerful in theory.

I loved it around when it was released, forgot it, and have started going back to it occasionally. I had no idea of its potential those years ago, and now I am appreciating its special weird sound. Very 'squishy', somehow..

Tbh, I doubt Id buy any presets for it, although I have no doubt they would be pretty amazing. But its definitely more of an experimental playground noodling synth for me.
I might check out how you use the melohman octave though, because I have never clicked with that part much. Its cool on Ohmicide, but on a synth I get lost with it.

So its true! Some people dont like the 'funky' skins! ;)
That monster skin is I think my favorite gui ever.
I really wish more devs were willing to at least have alternate skins that were more experimental;

Once you get used to the graphics, the layout is not really that weird.

Too precious. And definitely not ergonomic.
