just wait for the sandboxed version :D
Do you mean Logic or AU? It wouldn't make a lot of sense to me for them to sandbox Logic itself since it needs access to so many different parts of the OS, not to mention content drag'n'drop support from anywhere.

I'd bet the sandbox thing is just going to be for plugins to run in a separate process so if they crash Logic itself doesn't crash, similar to what Bitwig is doing.

Really though, unless I'm wrong, there is really zero reason to jump to the idea that all AU's will be app store only. People on the internet just like to overreact and take speculation for absolute fact. Similar to how Logic X is never going to happen and the Logic team disbanded and the Mac Pro is dead and they're never going to release a new one.

because apple always makes sense ;)

a bunch of info from devs here.. later in the thread gets a bit technical but lot's of useful info about plug in formats in general.

edit: it's just something to be aware of. at some point it will be a scramble for devs to get it all working in whatever version of logic is sandboxed.. so, make sure you read the update notes always..

ps -that version has already been seeded to devs so.. it won't be too long i suspect. chris randal makes mention of it now and then on twitter.

My understanding is that, basically, a sandboxed version will render obsolete any older plug-in that, by miracle, survived the OS upgrades, leaving you with just the ones that are being currently developed/supported.
Oh, and based on my experience with the new version of GB, it will screw a lot of authorizations too.

If Apple intends to eventually migrate the AU format over to iOS, then it wouldn't make sense to continue allowing plugins to crawl across the operating system outside of the host environment. Increased iOS/OSX convergence seems like a foregone conclusion. Half of me is highly annoyed by this.
