Boscomac's almost reason alone to purchase Reaktor, but now he's rocking the demos with some inspired (and hilarious) tracks (check out I'm not a Robot and Mirza Bites):

The MkII version really sounds fantastic, doesn't it?

he's very talented across the board it seems

the 'patch' demos for most of these effects are often quite elaborate. i particularly like 'tussle' for delight delay

I regret to announce that I will develop instruments / fx less often in the future. I always full of ideas but I can not take much time for this time-consuming work that is not funded. Money does not fall out of my pockets. I'm sure you understand.

I will try to develop other instruments / fx according to the free time I have. I really want to thank the people who support this project through donations. You're not many but it is always very motivating as feedback.

that is from his latest newsletter i got two days ago. really sad.

someone needs to give him a slap (a friendly slap, of course :smack: :box:   ). he really should be charging for these ensembles

the times i have been to that site it always struck me as crazy that such high quality output could be had for free...sure, there is the option to donate but donating is always something that gets put to sometime in the future, or rationalised in a kind of 'well i'm not flush at the moment but i'm sure others' are donating enough to help him out'

i'm not arguing him going from zero-to-hero, making them prohibitively expensive, but i'm sure there is a middle ground

i know some find it difficult (even insecure or embarrassed) assigning monetary value to their efforts, but developers like him need to be encouraged to keep going

i donated him. i do that regulary, simply because i can move the plugins i love from my free folder to the paid folder stuff. they deserve it. :)

i cant stand having stuff for free which is better then some i bought in the past. so i change that with donating.

and yet i have not. to be fair, i only just got back into reaktor (having bought it last week)

clearly, people are not donating otherwise it might be working out for him

i still think the charge should be on the front end, but kept reasonable. $10 sounds about right. he could even do deals (buy 3, get one free for instance)

he'd have at least $60 from at some point in the future

actually, i could easily use 10 of those ensembles. maybe he should only charge $5 then :hihi:

After his recent mail I finally donated - as you guys said, a donation is often something you want to do but somehow don't get around to it since there are so many toys for us these days and the final kick in the but is missing... ;-)

For me, his ensembles were the main reason to buy Reaktor when it was on sale some time ago.

Beautiful GUIs, very functional, very musical, often quite original (I love floodverb in ducking mode) and some of them like the Wurlitsar and the new transistor organ are extremely well done and good sounding instruments that can compete with quite pricey VSTs. And his demos are just as brilliant.

So many ensembles for Reaktor are completely crazy beasts that you need a degree to crack, but his are "small" high quality bites you can just use instantly.

Kudos to a real master! Image

Cheers,

Tom

I donated previously and just did so again.

Given the nature of his instruments he might do well bundling. They definitely have a "vintage" theme and tie in well together.

In any case, I wish him well and hope a little extra support might nudge him to keep at it. That organ is fantastic, especially with the new reverse delay (and I'm loving those demos too).

I donated too some months ago, although I can't actually use these ensembles due to a technical failure.
You can't always get what you waaaant...

A small donation as a token of appreciation. Thanks for all your gifts, Boscomac -- and your wrap them up so beautifully!

I have had them for quite a while but not tried them. I know I should do that - I'll check tonight, and I know I have a few bucks in my Paypal so I'll donate that.

donated. it is easy to say to oneself "i'll donate something later" especially in the case of small plug ins and such that you don't necessarily "need". such was the case when i downloaded a few of his creations a while ago. i basically said to myself that if i use them then i will make a donation. i haven't really used them but that doesn't mean that i will not and it sure doesn't put food on his table.
