I had this idea when I was working on my ACE Heavy Industry and Oxium banks of crossing bass sounds with drones to create long deep rumbling industrial basses that function more as a kind of sustained bed to add depth to a track than the usual short percussive sort of bass. So now I'm taking that idea and making a whole bank of such sounds - calling it Mutant Bass. The plugin I'm using for these is Glitchmachines Polygon - it really lends itself to this sort of sound. Here's a few tasters of the sort of sound I'm making:

Nice sounds!
Ive never looked at Polygon before, but what a great idea to have a Sub Osc on there!
Just that little addition makes it so much more interesting.

I do a similar thing sometimes using two synths and an envelope follower/am rider type thing. I will have a grainy drone synth playing a steady note, but muted, and have the bass synth amp trigger the drone amp/cut/grain/etc...
I set the drone to evolve continuously and then I just fiddle with how it rides the bass.
Cool sounds. :)

Excellent, I love it. I think it's a great idea too.

Thanks - I managed to get some more presets made yesterday but they need polishing - I will get back to this, and some more demo's, next weekend when I have more time. It looks like this bank will have 64 patches and be made up entirely of Bass-Drones, Bass-scapes and evolved wobbles.

wow. LOVE this! just add forbidding drum loops and you have the next generation of Scorn sounding stuff ;) ... I love me some Scorn, btw :D
I may have to pick up Polygon eventually...I just recently got Padshop and PsyGEN and was thinking I might have those bases (no pun) covered, but looking at the modulation options of Polygon...just damn...
