I've been getting back to fingerstyle chord melody arrangements recently. Classic pop/rock and jazz standards.
Fields of Gold - (sting)
Yesterday (the beatles)
A Night in Tunisia
All of me
Girl from Ipanena
It's been 50/50 half the songs I look for someone elses transcription and half I've been writing my own.

That's quite a collection. As I'm not in a band or playing live I'd pretty much got tired of playing covers for myself. Now that I'm on a one man band, trying to pull it all off on guitar without vocal or backup I've got some challenges ahead of me.

I play various songs on guitar or piano as the mood takes me. Here are some I can think of that I've played relatively recently:
That's Entertainment - The Jam (Guitar)
What Becomes of the Broken Hearted - Jimmy Ruffin (Piano)
Starman - David Bowie (Guitar)
High and Dry - Radiohead (Guitar)
Imagine - John Lennon (Piano)

It accumulated over about four years, though there's been a lot of rotation. That band has definitely gone through more than a hundred songs. It used to be an acoustic thing playing typical acoustic stuff. Now it's two singers one of whom sometimes plays guitar, me on bass and occasional vocals and a guy who used to play cajon and drums but now controls tracks that me and him put together in FL Studio.tapper mike wrote:That's quite a collection.
I like having that kind of rapid churn. Keeps you on your toes and there's usually at least one new song at every show. Downside is that this doesn't leave enough time to really nail everything.
