Pro Tools has an 'idea tool' where users make feature suggestions, other users then vote on them and a hierarchy of what most users would like to see next is then established. The developers then comment on the top 10 or 20 along the lines of 'highest priority,' 'next update,' 'future development,' etc.

Attila is so responsive to bug fixes and quick implementation of easy feature enhancement or additions, that I get lost in whether to expect feature implementation or not some times.

I wish there was a 'road map' giving a general outline of development plans.

Several things I've wished for have been given the 'that's a great idea' seal of approval by other users and often by Attila himself.

Some of these are stretching/ shrinking phrases from the left side, muting a phrase in place or muting part of a phrase in place, multi-midi ports, including rests within the generators (i.e., in a 4 beat generator including specifying 1 down to an 1/8th beat to be used for rests and that can occur anywhere except on the downbeat of the phrase), copying an entire track and adding it to the composition window, and a few other things that escape me at the moment.

I'm sure many of you have your own great ideas for feature implementations, too.

So, this is a 'meta-feature request' for some type of implementation of a 'Road Map' sticky to the forum with Attila's plans.

I feel a little guilty since it's asking him to do one more thing ... but on the other hand it might make it easier for him if people aren't repeatedly clamoring for the same feature suggestions ... which can get lost in the 10 page thread.

I like the idea of the road map como baila. It's very difficult to keep up with the "features request" thread.

May be something like a poll will work here. The problem with polls is once created it cannot be altered to add additional features.

I think Attila has quite enough to do to keep up with advancing RC so I think perhaps one of us should consider taking on the duties of managing a "road map" of feature requests.

Since it was your idea como I have to nominate you :hihi:

On the top of my list is the ability to control start stop of my DAW for recording. I have asked several times but I know Attila is real busy and so have tried not to press.

But the more I use RC the more I am needing this ability. Hint hint :hihi:

Happy Musiking!

Thanks for volunteering me!

Seriously, I'd be happy to assist Attila, but he must be involved.

After all, he is the only one who can decide upon and declare the priorities.

This is a good idea. I will make a list of the new features and priorities and prepare a road map. I do this from time to time, until the suggestions from my dear users overwrite the road map ;)

(As a side note the v2.55 update is mostly finished and many suggestions are implemented from the feature request thread, like saving multiple phrases into a group, track resizing, phrase resizing by dragging the left edge, and loop/region/zoom/etc settings saved with the composition... Recently lots of small features were implemented in bug-fix updates so that you don't have to wait for the next major update.)

>I have asked several times but I know Attila is real busy and so have tried not to press.

I feel really bad about it, dsan, believe me... I remember I promised to quickly implement at least MIDI start/stop, but then I took care of a bug instead IIRC. I hate when I promise something that I cannot deliver. I hate bugs too.

I'll collect my thoughts and post a road map in this thread.

Thanks,
Attila

Hi Attila,
I'm sorry to have made you feel bad > definitely not my intent.

I know you will implement this when you can.

I agree with your thoughts of fixing bugs first!

Thanks for addressing this though; much appreciated!

Thanks, Attila!

I think you should not use this thread ... but start a new one as a 'sticky' at the top of the forum. Then you can start with a clean slate of your current plans.

I think this should be a closed 'Admin' thread. We already have the 'Feature Suggestion' thread and anyone can post more thoroughly on a feature they'd like to see, anyway.

If only you edit the post, then if some new idea comes along that you think deserves higher priority you can simply place it in the road map where you think it belongs.

This will also serve also ... if it's at the beginning of the forum ... to let potential customers see both what you have planned and accomplished and where you plan to go. I think it will be helpful with your sales.

Thank you for the suggestions, como. I posted the road map now as a locked announcement.
It is great to know what exactly I will be working on in early 2015 ;)

yellukhan, "saving multiple phrases into a group" is already available today because v2.55 was released.

Thanks,
Attila

What about making Mac and PC releases equal? Most companies these days release them as equals. If possible, I think it would be a lot more professional to have the Mac version on par with the PC version and release them as such. When can we expect the VST mac version, also? Thanks!

Post

The Mac and PC releases are totally the same. Exact same features, same user interface.

You mean the 64-bit plug-in? Because the 32-bit plug-in is available for some time. Everything about VST is twice as much work on OS X because 32/64-bit are using different APIs for the user interface. I think it will be available in a few weeks but I cannot tell an exact date now.

Thanks,
Attila
