Hey first post here. I somehow stumbled upon this thread when looking for a Oberheim VSTi, and grabbed the most recent build. I just want to say you're doing fantastic work man, this sounds great.

I have a couple small gripes with it, or features that I'd like to see, but for now I'll keep them to myself; There is something to be said for limitations.

Once I've worked with it a bit more, and get more familiar with it, maybe I'll give a constructive critique or suggest features that I think are critical. For now I'm just saying thanks.

Was the gui for this finished yet, just noticed a lot of people saying it looks great and sounds great, so just thought I'd ask, I downloaded from the 1st post and the gui is white but on more recent posts I am seeing a blue gui? Presets? Thanks again, sounds good :D

Obxd is an instant classic.

Feedback after a brief session using the new GUI.

Possible Bug

If you just turn the PW knob in the Oscillators section, the Pulse sound is always audible. However, if you modulate it with the LFO like this screenshot, you can make the Pulse sound disappear.

Not a bug. A feature :D

Yes. Except I would like a double-click to reset to default value instead. It's faster and doesn't need an extra hand to do it. :tu:

Cool, wiill have a look ASAP. :tu: :hyper:

UPDATE:

Just ahad a try. Looks great and sounds great.

A few things i found:

- Is it possible to make Unison usable with polyphonic sounds? So far it seems to work monophonic
- As already mentioned it would be great to reset values to default with CTRL + Left-Click

Is it possible to have two switches for key tracking with 50% and 100% ?
(e.g. labeled "Half" and "Full"). Even better would be a knob to adjust filter key tracking.

UPDATE:
JUst tested with external FXs like the free TAL Chorus-LX and also ValhallaVintageVerb and OBXD sounds even better with those. Wil also try with the Arts Acoustic Big Rock Phaser soon (after creating a proper Synth Strings patch for this).

Yes, the unison button could be turned into a knob. Off at zero, and as you turn it clockwise, you would step through various modes, that are displayed on the display:

1x8 voices
2x4 voices
4x2 voices
1x7 voices
1x6 voices
3x2 voices
2x3 voices
1x5 voices
1x4 voices
2x2 voices
1x3 voices
1x2 voices

These modes would override/turn off the single voice dropdown menu of course.

I am also in favor of a bend range knob as 2 notes is often too little, while an entire octave is often too much, which makes it hard to get a, say, 5 or 7 note interval.

I find the default VAM mode for mono odd, it seems to work only downwards. Would it not be better to turn the priority thingy off completely, and on in both directions when VAM is turned on, which is indeed the case.

I can live with this if I have to but I am not sure of the value of this "feature." It means I have to be very careful to avoid sound drop outs when using PWM.

I think when PWM is enabled the current pulse width setting is:

Pulse Width = PW knob + (LFO value * PWM knob)

The "fix" would to be prevent the value from going out of range:

Pulse Width = MAX(PW knob + (LFO value * PWM knob), 127)

Extremely thin pulsewidths always make the sound disappear into DC.

You can use those dropouts for sound effects or rhythmic stuff

Exactly, I do it all the time when I am cowering under the bridge with my notebook in my arms :hihi:

Yes, I know this happens on some synths. However, I can't recall a synth where the range of possible pulse widths is different when PWM is enabled.

Imagine if you had to use an LFO to open a filter completely because the Cutoff knob had a shorter range. The situation with PWM here is similar.

How as it on the hardware?
