I know the best thing for deep cleaning is PVA glue but it's also pretty labour intensive - and just for day-to-day dust removal I have a carbon fibre brush, but was considering some sort of liquid for records that don't need a really deep clean but have things like fingerprints on them that the brush won't shift. Trouble is there are so many supposedly "pro" products and I'm pretty sure most are snake oil and some that may do more harm than good. Any that do the job?

Washup liquid in some luke warm water works well for that kind of things.

I think Bert is referring to what we call dish soap in the US . . .

very diluted solution of soap & h2o - rinse well - soft towel dry with the grain of the grooves

depending on how dirty... soapy water in a spray bottle and a super soft cloth diaper that's been washed several times and has no lint.

for every day stuff just water in a spray bottle will do just fine. mist it.. use the soft rag and wipe it.

or go hardcore and buy the record cleaning machine

Best to use distilled water and soap. Try to find soap as pure as possible (no abrasives).

Do not use washing up liquid aka dish soap. The elements in this can erode the vinyl if the vinyl is important to you.
I have never risked it. For extremely dirty or spoiled vinyl records, I have only ever used luke warm water mixed with some Pears Soap. Never use polish or other cleaning products as some have!!!

If you are going to use anything I would recommend a micro fibre cloth that you would use on camera lenses with the simlar solution, normally non-alcoholic.

Personally vinyl should be cared and maintained before and after play with a carbon fibre brush as mentioned, also a good idea not to leave them on your deck and pop away in papersleeves then into record cover.

Another tip I leanred, when buying vinyl always remove the shrink wrapped plastic. This actually continues to shrink over time and warps the cover. I'm a bit of a vinyl junkis Im afraid
