Testing the water presumably. Although you could argue they did this the Mono range.Kriminal wrote:Makes you wonder why they bothered with the mini version...
The full size will be a Limited Edition. Whatever that entails.
People have been complaining about the price. I think it's bang on considering current market values. I do admit one needs to build it themselves, but in return you get a new old synth and a £200 saving.

What £200 saving? The price listed is more than twice as much as the current MS20 ($1400 versus, what $599?)Mushy Mushy wrote:Testing the water presumably. Although you could argue they did this the Mono range.Kriminal wrote:Makes you wonder why they bothered with the mini version...

@WR: I'm comparing like for like (ie not mini)
$1400 is £850 today so I'm a bit off actually. It's a saving of ~£250 to £350 on current eBay prices (based on my saved eBay search over the last 12months).

Really? I guess that means old MS-20 prices have dropped since the Mini came out? I was getting to be expecting £1200-£1400 for oneMushy Mushy wrote:@WR: I'm comparing like for like (ie not mini)

The one you linked to is also in incredibly good condition, but it's more expensive than ones I've seen recently.

Prove what, that a commonly used phrase is true? Do a search, lots of ppl on various sites have 'wondered' on this subject.whyterabbyt wrote:Oh, do prove that, then.Kriminal wrote:Actually, it very much does.whyterabbyt wrote:No, it still doesnt. Actually.Kriminal wrote:

as far as I'm concerned the closest thing to a like-for-like comparison we can make here is this MS20diy VS MS20mini. In that respect, the MSRP is definitely a head scratcher.
1/4" patch points, the extra 14% of casing and the additional filter type just don't account for the price difference. And the 'limited edition' addition to the value is pretty arbitrary {at the point of sale} IMO - though of course it probably will have a real effect on resale value down the road - but you must also consider that the resale value will be based on the original sale value, which is the point at which it's arbitrary... but I digress.
here's to hoping these projected figures are off by a significant margin.
