Corrupt *.FLP files

First of all, hehe, before it's suggested, I'm using a legit copy of FLStudio 4.5.2. I've also tried signing up w/ looptalk to search for similar issues...but in order for me to sign in it requires I turn security settings off on my browser. So rather than having my workstation turn into a fulltime popup ad machine I'm hoping someone here can help me. Anyways!!:
Last night I was working on a piece of an ad-reel (aka music w/ deadlines)...saving the file every 10 minutes or so...then...at some point while saving...I get a box telling me it cannot save to file because the .flp file is corrupt. Ok...so I save as a different filename...same error message. I save as new...same error message. Close the program...try to reopen the files...get an error box telling me it can't open the files as they're corrupt.
So I guess what I'm asking is...
Can this file be salvaged in any way/shape/form? Or am I shit out of luck?
I think Fruity is a good pro alternative...but the stability issues may make me toss it in the waste bin for good. Once a software's flaws lead to my income being shorted...grrr...
thanx.

Strange, i don't need to turn it off. Maybe IE is not as bad finallybut in order for me to sign in it requires I turn security settings off on my browser.

I've never experienced that problem in my 3+ years of using FL, so I can't help you recover your files.
You can, however, access the Looptalk forum without turning off your browser's security (I assume you're using Internet Explorer). Bring up the Internet Options dialog box, go to the Security tab, and click the Sites button to add flstudio.com and e-officedirect.com to your list of trusted sites.

I just get this garbage where it logs me out immediately...and then the faq tells me i need to turn off security in ie. pshhh. maybe in 1997 this would be a considerable option.

Ive' had this problem, and nothing I tried ever fixed it.
I've also had some weird problems with zip files where it won't save certain samples from one of my projects thats 3 years old. I believ that problem is from a version up grade.
FLStudio is a great program but unfortunatly nothing is bugless. Recreating the problems that people have can be next to impossible. Check looptalk im sure there is some info on the issue.
hope you find a solution and if you do pm me.
thanks, joe

I've got FLP files corrupted in the past, sent to FL people and get back healed and working. Try communicate with support, may work.

To my experience, this can happen with some plugins (I can recall the GreenAmp beta corrupting files). The only solution I've found is to get rid of the plugin that caused it, it may be a somewhat tedius task to find out which plugin is causing the problem.

strange! so they must either have a debugging program or there's some sort've secret hex/text editing technique. Altho at this point I suppose it'd just benefit me to start over...as waiting a day or 2 or 3 isn't an option. However I'm considering leaving FL in the dust...at least until they work out some stability issues.lanark wrote:I've got FLP files corrupted in the past, sent to FL people and get back healed and working. if a FL is 'corrupted', it's usually because:
-a plugin crashed while saving or restoring its state
-the user dumbly saved as a ZIP file using an FLP extension, or the opposite. Just manually change the extension if it's the case
if you have the habit of saving to zipped FLP's, you should stop doing it unless you want to exchange projects with someone else. FLP's are much quicker to save.

If you can’t even log into looptalk (because you are blocking cookies) you don’t stand a chance to be able to de corrupt a flp – that’s for sure.

This happened a few months ago after making this kick ass 2-Step choon. Pissed me off so bad I was ready to throw my XPC out the window
But it has only happened once and appears to be a rather rare phenomenon, so I just let it slide. I guess it's a bit different when you're working on a deadline, my sympathies.

1.) Looptalk... you... go... now (you'll have your .flp fixed in two days).
2.) It seems a bit odd to blame FL for being unstable when there's a 99% probability that a plug-in is responsible for corrupting the file.
3.) Lists are fun.
4.) I've been cruising Looptalk for almost a year now, and I don't see how anyone with half-a-brain could find it unhelpful or mean-spirited.

My tip is to save often when working on big files - I know I do.

You know what i think when i see someone who "just can't" access Looptalk, no matter what is suggested...

this marking the 2nd time i've been accused of pirating software in the last 24 hours.Mirabebe wrote:You know what i think when i see someone who "just can't" access Looptalk, no matter what is suggested...
now...if the post above describes me working on an ad-reel...with a deadline...using the version that just came out...how exactly would that lead you to think that i'm using cracked software?
the funniest part is...5-10 years ago I NEVER paid for software. now that i'm making lots of money i not only desire to pay for legit versions...but i have to because i could easily get sued not doing so. but it's NOW...in the last couple of years...where i'm stuck listening to people telling me the $20,000 worth of software i've bought doesn't really exist...and that i'm a criminal. feck off!
you know why i'm not on looptalk? because i don't like enabling cookies or making my studio systems vulnerable to tracking cookies or spyware.
you can say that's my problem i have to deal with then...but it's actually imageline's problem...as i won't be spending another dime on their next "free (free = $129)" lifetime upgrade.
