Countdown to Sample Tank 3, with 64 bit support

First thing I did after downloading the samples for the VIs was burn them to dvd-rs. I mean, it isn't like they don't mention their modus operandi in this regard.
Chalk me up as another 'underwhelmed.' An arpeggiator would've been nice, but there is now one built into Logic X. Again, though, if the upgrade price is reasonable, I'll probably do it. If not, I won't. Simple as that. Or, I'll wait for one of their group buys or other sales.

Can we quit with the fargin' flash frames? They look like crap and they give me !@#%&! headache.

It's like this:audientronic wrote:Can we quit with the fargin' flash frames? They look like crap and they give me !@#%&! headache.

But with flashframe transitions!
That was painful.

If the price for new buyers is $299, I guess the upgrade price will be between $149 and $199.Rajah wrote:dexterbella wrote:I really hope these 'unofficial' screenshots aren't telling the whole story! Sure there's a bigger/better sample library, 64 bit, more fx and a fresh lick of paint (all very welcome) but ultimately a bit underwhelming considering how long the wait has been.
I was hoping to see a lot more added to the functionality of ST - more flexible modulation, more LFOs, more envelopes (including possibly MSEGs), arps, step sequencers, possibly even Korg KARMA style phrases etc etc...
I guess there's still more details to come but, as it stands, ST3 looks like it might sound better than ST2 but not really be capable of doing much more - I was really hoping for much more of a workstation rather than just a rompler. Hope I'm wrong.
I was hoping to see stuff like that also... Maybe in the next update (in about 10 years)...
Ah well, Let's see what Alchemy 2 has to offer...
I may pay $49. for this Sampletank 3 upgrade..

i may just start investigating something like Plogue Bidule to rewire ST2 into Logic. $199 is too rich for my blood.

Long time SampleTank user here.
If ST3 is in the $49-$99 range for the upgrade, I might just use some JamPoints and make the purchase. Other than that, I recently purchased Kontakt 5 during a recent promotion, and am very impressed with it. I can live with ST2 and my numerous Xpansion Tanks, until the price drops, or they release a free 64 bit player (which is all I really need).
Funny thing is, that originally, I was going to bypass purchasing Kontakt until the long promised ST3 was released. Guess I was falling for the hype
Glad that I changed my mind, and jumped at that good deal for Kontakt.
...and the wait for ST3 continues

I really, really dislike dubstep, and particularly dislike dubstep presets, so that demo put me off ST3, rather than encouraged me to buy it.ObiK wrote: On our Soundcloud: https://soundcloud.com/ikmultimedia/sets/sampletank3
If there isn't a free update to an ST3 player, I won't be paying for it, and will carry on with ST2, even though I have to use Renoise in admin mode just to get ST2 to run...

I can safely say that IK won't have any of my money.
I'm disappointed with what I have read/heard of ST3 so far.
I'll keep working with ST2.5 and when I need 64-bit, I'll use the free player if there's one or use another product.

When are we going to see more demonstrations, rather than blah, blah, blah? And, yeah, I hate EDM as well, so that didn't move me in a positive way.
It appears to me that IKM is banking its future on the iToys. Someone along the way must've seen the field being too competitive for VIs, and decided to corner the market on gizmos to use on iPads and iPhones. Possibly a good business decision, but, as can be observed, not a model that many here are enamoured with.
As for the assertion that it's the same minority posting criticism everywhere, all I can say is that this is the only place I frequent where I've spoken out against no 64 bit Sampletank 2. I have read, in a number of places, withering criticism over that decision. The fact is, imo, there is enough discontent out there to put a dent in IKM's VI sales. They must calculate that they'll make that back with the iStuff. Sad, because I really like IKM's products, but I am not going to use my iPad for anything more than a remote control for either Omnisphere, VSL, and Logic.

+1 That sums it up for me as well. Picked up Kontakt 5 at a great price and have since added some pretty cool free samplesets. If the ST3 upgrade price is right I do want it but if not I'll pass without hesitation. Sounds like we're looking at months before it's released so let's see what happens by then.soulster wrote:Long time SampleTank user here.

An engine only upgrade would work really well for me...........don't need gigs of samples I'll never use.
