Hey RBR. Ye I've been trying to get AL working for a while now, and after the last update I've been able to pass sounds through it, however it's VERY crash prone, and doesn't seem to want to play well when you have a mic input in the mix of things.

@eidenk cheers for that. Had a quick look at the ESI units. Seems the DirectWIRE stuff is specifically geared toward sending stuff between applications like DAWs, for recording, not a unified / summed out which I can actually tell my screen recording software to use as a source (same problem of V.A.C.).

That's weird, I use ASIO Link daily with a microphone, into my M-Audio card then out of Reaper and into my webcam. I had some early problems as I had to exactly match bitrate/sample rate, I still use one of the older builds that doesn't auto-match that stuff.

Doesn't seem to work so well with Savihost.

Not too sure what exactly you want to be able to do but in the example configuration below I think I am able to pipe into an application using Asio the input of the sound card plus whatever is played back through apps using Asio, MME or WDM (DirectSound & Kernel Streaming).

My problem is, no matter how these things get routed, there is no way for me to "record" what's coming out. The screencap software can't get a summed output of my USB device's output:

As you can see, there is no "UA-25 out" / "Stereo mix" / "What-u-hear" output to record.

Like I said to RBR, ASIOlink does add this option (yay), but it's super buggy, and the loopback function for the mic (ie, the sound output always has the mic mixed in as part of the summed output) is a bit screwy and usually causes ASIOlink to crash.

RBR, I've got ASIOlink up and running now (seems to be stable for the last 40 minutes or so). Now I'm trying to get my Mic input (mic input 1 on my audio interface) to output through to the Stereo mix, and it's doing it, but only on the left hand side. It's mono of course, but any idea how I can get it to play back through both speakers?... hope that made sense (so I'm not arming my inputs or setting a mic in in the DAW, it gets mixed in after the DAW, so I can for instance, close the DAW and still have the mic going)

Hmm, think I may have just go it it working via ASIO Link + 2 instances of FL with Multi-Client enabled in ASIO Link. May I just add, John Shield (from midithru.net, the developer) is a top bloke. He actually tested the setup and all with FL on his side and he emailed the solution just as I was trying it myself. Probably spent about 2 hours on email now. Love devs like that. Money is in his account now. Keep up the good work.

Hi, just wondering if the MONO solution was possible. You most likely want stereo, but did you try it? If you need some help with the UA-25 mono routing, feel free to ask.

Hey mate, nah, got it sussed via the 2 x FL instances. I can select a mono output to go to left and right in FL instance 1's output, so well chuffed. Now, how to I speed up my internet's upload speed!!

It chokes up at 240p res. Aw well, that'll do

They've started rolling that out in NZ, but it's not in our suburb yet. Fail. I'll call the ISP however to see if there's anything I / they can do.

So, my first foray into streaming... don't think it turned out too bad. This is a little tutorial on how to set up WDM Link driver to intercept ASIO audio, output it to a stereo mix (recordable like the old what-u-hear in win XP) and out to your speakers... added a blurb about OBS as well, which works a bloody treat, and is free!

MOTU ultralight MKIII (and probably all motu's) can do this without any problem.
You use the return channel as the input to you computer to get the global mix.

Does the driver have a "stereo mix" which can be recorded in Win7 and Win8? All problems with this arose due to drivers being written in such a way that it doesn't allow a ""what-u-hear" mix to be recorded anymore.

I'm a little late here but anyway..

I have a ua-25ex and i'm able to record every sound coming out of it (also ASIO) using virtual audio cable. I just routed the ''IN'' from the ua-25 to a virtual cable, and then selected the virtual cable in my recording software (OBS). No clue how it worked cause i think you would normally need to route the "OUT" to VAC to achieve this... But it worked (and it was very simple)
Now i bought a focusrite 2i4 and this patch doesn't work anymore...
I'm trying to route the output from the focusrite to a virtual cable, but VAC won't let me do this...
I'm guessing it depends on what kind of audiointerface you have and the internal routings for it to work.

Gonna take a look at WDM Link driver. Hopefully this works !

atleast i can still switch back to the old ua-25ex if i want to record a video. Was planning to sell it, but looks like i'm still gonna need it for the moment.
