Uncle E: I just got my Arc5 delivered, will be setting it up tomorrow. Still trying to get the Amplitube loaded and running though. Go figure, my IK 32 bit VSTs run perfectly and my IK 64bit have posed 'issues'.
I don't understand that (seems as good a thing to chime in on than anything else  )

I have x64 versions of IK (not sampletank obviously) running w/o issue here on two computers. I'd love to help if I can, but it's simple not possible that I'm having such good luck unless there is a reason.

No, I think I'm the only one I've heard of having the 64b IK issue. Have an open ticket on A3, as trying to uninstall, reboot, install gets me the same results. I'm making progress on the TrackS Grand and finally got 7 out of the 16 showing up, all is there in the folder, but I'm making progress on it and think I will get it running fully soon.

Glad to hear. Of the x64 family, I'm 100% successful with plugs.

I just discovered that my mobile phone is actually a 'sampler'

sampletank -vs- kontakt...

in my opinion kontakt is a investment... yes... if one is looking to save some money sampletank is the answer... when one purchases kontakt they know updates/upgrades are coming... can we say the same about sampletank... with the updates/upgrades of kontakt... new libraries are developed to utilize those new functions i.e. scripting... what can be said about sampletank?

not sure if anyone ever thought of this... if you own sonic refills... you own sampletank... how many dups sounds are in sampletank and sonik synth... now ik multimedia want you to purchase 6 GB of sounds that you may have purchased 2 to 3 times already...

there is no comparison between kontakt and sampletank... kontakt... again... is an investment... an instrument that you can grow with... now... if one is concerned with the pricing of the kontakt libaries... then ST3 would be the answer... question... with sampletank track record... when do you think the next update/upgrade will be coming? another 10 years? the money you pay for kontakt is basically an insurance that Native Instruments will keep kontakt up to date... i.e. the cost of doing business...

last point... i been a sampletank and kontakt owner for the last 10 years... just look how far kontakt has come over the past 10 years compared to sampletank... and now look at ST 3 compared to Kontakt... look at the libraries available for kontakt compare sampletank... if money is an issue... then sampletank wins... if money is not an issue... there is no comparison... just look at both products track record for the last 10 years!!!

That is because this "Kontakt/Sampletank" comparison is wrong: Sampletank is more like Omnisphere, Nexus2 or Alchemy. I own, among others, Kontakt, Omnisphere, Alchemy and Sampletank. I compare Kontakt to Exs24, Halion, Machfife and such. I don't think one can compare Omnisphere to Kontakt. So is for ST. Of course, I think if ST3 had deep sampling features, it would become a new standard with lots of third party libraries. Alas, they want it to be a rompler (or "exclusive sample player"... whatever). What a pity.

If they could do like Spectrasonics and offer some kind of pad link, and as we know IK like building hardward stuff, they could launch something like an iTank, with dedicated knobs and controls for all the features in Sample Tank 3

Akai have tried something like it:

I mean if IK did something like that and "hardwarized" SampleTank how far away would that be to having a Tyros in your home?

i do not think you can add Omnisphere to the comparison either... yes... Omnisphere has a tons of sounds but it is a "synth" without drums, b3 organ, sax, oboe, etc... Omnisphere and sampletank are not a good comparison... the best comparison for Sampletank is Halion Sonic 2...

Kontakt, Mach 5, Halion are in the same class... and Sampletank is not in that class...

Some guys here keep on claiming Kontakt is not a sampler, because a real sampler must have recording capabilities. So, yes, in a purist pespective: mobile phone+0,79$ "sampler" app = "real sampler". Kontakt = "sample player".

The real question is: "are direct recording capabilities necessar today in order to consider a sample player a real sampler"? I suspect "NO". I think it is just "retro-nostalgia", because nowadays a mere i-phone can do 100x better than an old 25.000$ Fairlight. And this hurts :hihi:

You are right.

So NAMM is over. We got some screenshots that are claimed not to be current, a few specs, no real release date and no word on upgrade price.

And ? 30 gigs of samples. What samples ? 3000 instruments. Which instruments ? Can we use ST2.5 Combis ? Will there be an engine only upgrade path ?

Still no When and How Much...........
