I might agree with good old Alex who no doubt would pick 7 May, 1824 when Ludwig van's glorious Ninth premiered in Vienna, but someone in the media just used that phrase to describe some award show about to begin down South in L.A.
So, fess up, anyone around here into the Grammys?

I'm from New Zealand... and I am sick to f**kin' death of hearing about Lorde... I wish she would just hurry up and slip back into obscurity.
She's just another mediocre pop act but everywhere you look over here you're bombarded with her image from every direction just because she's doing big things in America, sick of it!!!

Homer Simpson: Oh why won't anyone give me an award?
Lisa Simpson: You won a Grammy.
Homer Simpson: I mean an award that's worth something.
[announcement appears on the bottom of the screen- Legal Disclaimer: Mr. Simpson's opinions do not reflect those of the producers, who don't consider the Grammy an award at all]

I think there are two few awards, here is a couple of new categories they should consider:
Best phoned-in album
Best contractual obligation recording
Best recording of band while underwater
Best recording made with instruments on fire

Best Metal something or other: Black Sabbath - This either sums up the current state of metal, or the current state of the Grammys. I'm not sure which, mainly because I don't have enough information. I have to assume that there are currently metal acts out there whose last big record peaked well after 1976, but I really can't be sure. The REASON I can't be sure is that the most recent memorable PAST winners in this category included Alice Cooper (best metal video for Welcome to my Nightmare) and Jethro Tull. It's like Metallica et. al. never even happened.
Also, did anyone see the Pepsi half-time show? If you didn't catch this, find it on YouTube. Not really sure who this was for. Are there really a lot of jocks out there who care about the Grammys this deeply? Terry Bradshaw has made a virtual career out of displaying and copping to his complete lack of talent. But at least the "Wrecking Ball" spoof was good for a chuckle.

Yeah, Jethro Tull won the metal award back in '87 or something
JT is a great band, but I have never thought of them as a metal band

Yeah, that really underlined how completely out of touch the Grammys is with reality.Numanoid wrote:Yeah, Jethro Tull won the metal award back in '87 or something![]()
