Native Instruments even made a free x64 version of Kore Player while it was being discontinued.
Kore is pretty much obsolete now, but I still use it for one expansion library without a hickup.

It was very usable at NAMM (wasn't just a presentation) and was well-received so it is very very close. Not that I don't see your points though, please don't get me wrong.
Also, thanks for answering the player pricing question (and the followup but ST isn't going to be discontinued very soon, thankfully, after all of this work and time
). Anybody else?

That is what I'd really like to see. I would expect that it would be less than $50. To show some love for your long time users, or those who have nearly all your software products (like me), I'd say more like $25 to get a player--as a thanks for all of us who have had projects on hold.Peter - IK Multimedia wrote:OK, so I see there are many that comment about a "player" version of just the engine to use only for the previous libraries in 64 bit environments. If that were the case, how much would you expect it to cost?
And I appreciate that you guys are giving it some thought.

If the T-Racks CS upgrade is any indication, full paying owners of the prior package were only charged $99 for the full upgrade. Sampletank 3's MSRP is somewhat less than the full T-Racks CS ($299 v. $399), so I would expect that longtime owners (ie. full price) should be charged something in the $75 range for a full upgrade.Angle Loss wrote:That is what I'd really like to see. Can't recall if my T-Racks figures are accurate though. Someone might confirm?
Player only? Well, if the UVI model is a good one, then they should give it away. That shopping cart icon in the upper right will make up the difference, I'm sure.
Cheers

I think they are expecting a free version of 3 similar to the Sampletank 2 free version that is out now.Peter - IK Multimedia wrote:OK, so I see there are many that comment about a "player" version of just the engine to use only for the previous libraries in 64 bit environments. No it can't be, I can't believe it, Jordan Rudess showcasing an instrument, that is a fantastic scoop, how did IK think about that?Peter - IK Multimedia wrote:I think he plays so fast that he played it before we got it to himSeriously, though, here's the video

Say what you will, he's a great player and a friend of multiple people here at the company, he wanted to use SampleTank 3 and would have been in contact with us when in Italy anyway so... We don't really give a rat's behind what he does for others. Edit - and I do apologize that he got it before anybody here. Them's the breaks.Numanoid wrote:No it can't be, I can't believe it, Jordan Rudess showcasing an instrument, that is a fantastic scoop, how did IK think about that?Peter - IK Multimedia wrote:I think he plays so fast that he played it before we got it to himSeriously, though, here's the video

...which also came out years after the product was released. Just to give some context and perspective in case anybody wasn't aware (though I'm sure most here are aware of that as well as the similar case of AmpliTube then T-RackS).KevWestBeats wrote:I think they are expecting a free version of 3 similar to the Sampletank 2 free version that is out now.Peter - IK Multimedia wrote:OK, so I see there are many that comment about a "player" version of just the engine to use only for the previous libraries in 64 bit environments. Yeah sure, he is a virtuoso no doubt, but most of us users play keyboard like this guy:Peter - IK Multimedia wrote:Say what you will, he's a great player and a friend of multiple people here at the company and would have been in contact with us when in Italy anyway so... So to bring out the possibilites with ST3 for the "regular user" is most important IMO

True but I am thinking of it as doing a solid for the guys who have been upset with IK. Give them a free version with little to no sounds so that they can use their current libraries for free as a thank you for sticking it out. Then if they want the full version make it a $99 upgrade price. I think that is very fair.Peter - IK Multimedia wrote:...which also came out years after the product was released. I understand. I'll have Kanye step up, we'll re-upload the Jordan Rudess video but 10 seconds in he'll interrupt. "Imma let you finish, but I'm the most average keyboard player in the world! Let me show you how SampleTank 3 is done!"Numanoid wrote: So to bring out the possibilites with ST3 for the "regular user" is most important IMO

Why not go for Keith Emerson?Peter - IK Multimedia wrote:I understand. I'll have Kanye step up, we'll re-upload the Jordan Rudess video but 10 seconds in he'll interrupt. "Imma let you finish, but I'm the most average keyboard player in the world! Let me show you how SampleTank 3 is done!"
The Dos Equis campaign has gone to show that a younger audience, which all marketers want to reach, can relate to an older man who has "been there and done it all"
"I don't always play virtual instruments, but when I do I play Sample Tank 3"
