If so, is it just part of your contents insurance or a dedicated policy?
I just got a quote of £97p/a for £10k worth of kit. From a specialist insurer too.
Seems like a great deal.
How does it compare to you guys?

If you have that sort of thing.Numanoid wrote:Doesn't regular home insurance cover that kind of thing?
This is the point of my question.

Have you itemised it all and/or sent pics to them?thecontrolcentre wrote:My stuff is included in my contents insurance ...
I'm nervous with just H&C insurance. Imagine trying to explain how a 30 year old synthesiser is worth £Xk. I'm sure they'd just replace it with a Casio.
However, a dedicated studio company know's about all this stuff.

I have reciepts for most things ... and photos of everything. I do have a list too ... but nothing was sent to my insurers. tbh the contents of my studio probably amounts to less than the value of most peoples home entertainment systems ...Mushy Mushy wrote:Have you itemised it all and/or sent pics to them?thecontrolcentre wrote:My stuff is included in my contents insurance ...

In any case, always read the small print. Because they might have some exceptions and in the end they might not pay because your studio wasn't secured perfectly... Insurances are clever in finding reasons not to pay...

I should insure my gear. At a rough guess there's about 40K's worth.
My Mrs asked me about it a couple of weeks ago. Anybody who wants it has to get past the Leopards first.

I am sure home contents covers things like synths/drum machines/mics/midi keyboards/soundcards etc.. same as they do your TV/dvd player/stereo etc.. but I guess the best way to find out is to ask them. I think my contents is any item up to a £1000. Any item worth over that has to be specified.
I do know that proving it is a big thing because when I spoke to an insurer not long ago the man I spoke to joked about how difficult it is when he has to ask someone claiming for a camera if they have a picture of them with the camera! lol
I take pictures of my stuff and keep receipts but a fire for example could destroy all your evidence as well so I am actually going to photograph my stuff (with my wife holding it) scan the receipts and upload it as a zip file to cloud storage.
See... paranoia has its uses!
