My new website

Sorry if this comes across a bit spammy but i gotta let people know somehow!

This is my new website for my online mix engineering business

2 weeks of trawling through wordpress templates and editing css/html... i'm tired but Any comments about the website are welcome - i was going for clean, informative and functional rather than flashy, responsive and all that stuff.

And, of course, if anyone would like some mixing done please don't hesitate to get in touch. I am very flexible and will offer attractive deals for more than one track. My background is in electronic music (i used to release electronica as boc scadet) so i will jump at the opportunity to mix anything EDM, IDM or any other iteration of what constitutes electronic music.

Looks good to me, but it could be tweaked further without losing the clean and functional feel.

A couple of suggestions:

Cut down the amount of text on the front page. All that descriptive stuff should go into other sections. Distil the essence of what you offer on the front page, add detail in subsections. I suppose you'll extend the Q&A and blog sections. Use these to explain your philosophy and methods, and of course to show that you know your stuff. Show your passion and knowledge instead of telling about it.

Some potential clients may need convincing that your setup is good enough for the job. Perhaps you could link to statements that support the notion that a guy with a PC, some software, monitors and a properly treated room can achieve great results? Perhaps you could also add some more impressive photos/screenshots?

Get a logo and use it. Design it yourself, if you must. (An almost circular crimson coloured C with sun rays?) The clean look of your website is good for information, but not so good for identification. A logo helps clients identify you.

Make more and shorter sound files, preferably before/after examples with a mediocre mix compared to your own fantastic mix.

The first person singular is always written "I", never "i".

I don't even have an image of my home studio on my homepage, because then everybody thinks "So, and where are all your synthesizer racks and your huge console?"

Dave Pensado has said things to that effect a few times on his youtube series (most of which i've watched - goldmine of info). To be honest it might not be such a great idea to make such a big thing out of the whole minimal approach - not sure...

I like it. Clean and easy to navigate.

I do like skipscada's suggestions though. Your home page shouldn't tax the brain so much.

Also, and I'm not quite sure how to do this, but it looks to me like the blog is what might drive people to your site in the first place. So I'd put it front and center and feature it more - or at least do a bit of research and see what the pro's recommend.

I took your feedback into consideration (and feedback from some other folks)... and completely changed the look and feel I think it's generally more attractive now and looks more contemporary. I now offer mastering so i mastered all the tracks in the player too. Much happier with it now
