NAMM GAS?? Who's getting what?

No gas for new gear at the moment; some things look nice but there's nothing I feel the rush to own, though I make consider them later if they cover some needs I don't have right now.
I still have a huge gas for some other gears (including something from 2013's NAMM), though!

Modules, of course
The Make Noise CTRLSEL modules and the Erbe-Verb are both high on my list. The CTRLSEL modules are handy for preprogramming those CV changes affecting multiple modules at once, without needing a multitude of hands to do it. The Erbe-Verb is perfect if you like the space and definition of digital reverbs, yet don't go by hall/room definitions. And, every parameter's voltage controllable
I had an absolute blast with them at the show.
The Verbos modules are also on my short list. All the modules are great, but the Complex Oscillator, Harmonic Oscillator and Voltage Multistage really grabbed my attention.
I liked the Two-Pole from Waldorf, and I have to pick up BLUE II when it's released; Rob and Jon did a wonderful job
Oh yeah- and I'll probably get a Nektar P1 as well. I have lots of controllers already, but I really like the form factor and capabilities of the P1.

I've been thinking about getting one of the nektars, maybe the big P6. Especially when Bitwig comes I think it would be a good match.ew wrote:Modules, of course![]()

The one thing that I can't figure out is whether or not it makes use of all the controls when in plug-in mapping mode. In all the examples, it looks like they pick a page and then it's just the 8 knobs that are on that page. It would be a huge shame if they only used 8 knobs per page. Using the whole set of controls would reduce the number of pages by 3x!

Instrument Mode makes use of all the controls on Panorama. If you are editing a plug-in in Instrument mode, it's most likely that the controls to the left of the display are mapped to envelope parameters (or drawbars on an Organ, or drum channel volumes on a drum machine) and the controls to the right of the display are mapped to the last parameter page you selected. This is true in Reason, Cubase and Bitwig Studio.Echoes in the Attic wrote:I've been thinking about getting one of the nektars, maybe the big P6. If you are editing a plug-in from Mixer Mode (for example controlling Macro parameters in Bitwig, or an Insert in Cubase) only the eight encoders to the right of the display are used. This way the controls to the left of the display are always mapped to the Mixer.
Here is a pretty good demo of how Bitwig and Panorama work together:

As for GAS... I has it.
I will almost certainly be getting a Beatstep for it's cv/gate functionality.
I already have the cash set aside for Elektron's Analog RYTM
Every MakeNoise module Tony was showing has my name on it. I will also probably be replacing my old glossy Pressure Points/Brains/Rene for the new matte finish versions.
I now need a BanjoUke

Ok cool. So you mean that the controls on the left stay the same? But I assume you can change them to be different for every page, right? And what about the top 8 left knobs? Those are also different controls per page? Do you hit a button to change the display between the 8 left knobs, 8 left sliders and 8 right knobs? Or does the display update when you touch/move one of the different rows of controls?justin3am wrote: Instrument Mode makes use of all the controls on Panorama. Moog Sub 37.
You don't really need an analog synth these days IMO, but this would make an awesome new toy for me + get to use it in my music.
From what I've seen and heard so far, sounds great + love the sound character of the multi-drive and the extended mod options.

In Bitwig Studio the controls to the left of the display stay the same, they are on a 'fixed assignment' page. You press the Toggle/View button (just above the 9th fader) to switch between the fader display page (which also includes the encoders above the faders and the encoders above them) and the encoder display page.Echoes in the Attic wrote: So you mean that the controls on the left stay the same? In Cubase and Reason, it's a bit different. There can be several fader pages for a specific plug-in's map and when you select (for example) the envelope page from the menu, the Fader page will appear. Why try to keep the fader pages to a minimum to make navigation easier, though.
For most plug-ins/rack extensions we try to stick to certain rules so that the mapping stays consistent no matter what you are using.

Spark 2.0 - the software version (altho, at $60 more, may go for the LE controller).
the manley core reference channel strip would be nice too...

Oh man, so with Bitwig, all the controls to the left of the display stay fixed? Even in plug-in mode? Oh no, that would mean that for most larger plug-ins that have a couple hundred or more parameters, you're looking at 30 or 40 pages easy if only the 8 right side encoders change for each page. Even though it seems fairly easy to switch pages, that's still a lot more pages than you would need using all controls. Don't get me wrong, it would be amazing to be able to lock one of the knob/slider rows while changing the others. But to have to have 2/3 of the controls stuck to the same parameters all the time is unfortunate.
So to confirm, even when we make our own plug-in mappings in Bitwig, the whole left side won't change?
