Breaks. Do you even tweak them?

Post

but in the interest of 'fair game' i'll just say that the marketing of image over a long period of time can turn that image into a caricature. which, in the opinion of this old person who remembers the 90s and early 2000s when a certain producer/dj was on every other page of every gear mag with glorious quotes about numerous products next to said producer/dj's face, is more or less what's happened to BT's marketing image for anyone older than 30... and when you couple that w/some funny shit over the years about inventing stutter edits and "squabble beats" and inventing IDM or whatever.. well.. it's hard not to poke fun at that image.

and that says nothing about the man's talent. he's obviously a talented musician and producer with lot's of fans who love what he does. but let's not take ourselves too seriously ok..... and the guy is just trying to make a living as best he knows how... but that doesn't mean i can't roll my eyes and vent for a minute on the internet.. it's why the internet was created by Al Gore right? ;)

I have been trying this for a few days, and there a lot of things I like, but the things that frustrate me will definitely prevent me from buying this, particularly at the current price.

There is no way of saving individuals sounds or modulations. You can save the entire song, but if you want to build up your own library of sounds and patterns there is no save option.

I spent a lot of time making some sounds I like, but I am limited to using them only in the song I am making at the time. I do not see a way to copy and paste individual generators even within the song.

The lack of swing is an issue, too, especially for something that says it is for EDM and Hip Hop.

I would think about this for under $100, but for now I will pass. I own just about all the Izotope plugins except for the T-Pain effect, so I am a fan of the company, but this one just seems less than fully developed.

hm, but you can save the preset and reload elsewhere, don`t you?

What I would like to do at a minimum is save each individual sound I create separately so I can use them in different combinations in different compositions. Each of the six sounds have three generators which can make some pretty cool and complex sounds. I would like to be able to save those.

It would also be nice to be able to save the envelopes and LFOs that I create, but I would be happy with just the sounds.

i see what you mean, hm..even this "Discover" option won`t help there i guess..thats pretty bad actualy yes..

It's been going on or 15 years now with no sign of abating. At least I can say I was one of the ones that liked it when it was cool and underground :hihi: (and at least a bit unexpected and unexplored at the time).

I still love glitchy sounds, but as usual, it's not WHAT you do, it's how you do it. Some peole glitch with soul, others are just doing it because of bandwagon jumping. It can get very arbitrary and empty if used without care.

And yeah, the Breaktweaker app is horribly unfinished-seeming. For the price I find it a bit shocking to be honest. But hey. CELEBRITY HYPE!

Well, it took decades for the Beethoven bang-bang-bang to fade away, so what are 15 years of glitch-terror?

True... and this is where part of me says - leave the technical stuff to those who actually care about what's going on! The democratisation of technical audio processes HAS polluted the environment with excessive glitching, with a minority using it creatively - now it's just a casual game to play like Angry Birds, load a sample, turn some knobs, look I made a funny noise!

A lot of these tools save us time, but at what price does convenience come? It's always a trade-off. This isn't a popular opinion to have or "politically correct" but I believe there's a grain of truth there.

My uncle plays that I-V-I stuff sometimes, it does my head in. It's like, we get it, home key, alright!

This really feels rushed for the sake of NAMM and having BT demo it.

well, if we save time we got more time to explore other realms ;)

I mean, an occasional glitch effect and a stutter at the right moment can be very cool, I've used it myself a lot, first excessively when I started to make beats and loops with Reaktor, but then I got so bored by it very quickly. It's like pouring chilly sauce over everything. Whenever an entire genre is build mainly on the accumulation of clichés and effects, it gets boring and starts to taste stale.

I love me some tasteful glitchiness, but glitches are the electronic equivalent of crazy drum fills. Having glitches all throughout a track is like a drummer doing drum fills all the way through a song. Nobody wants to hear that.
