Thanks!
Thanks for your patience. I was just sent the confirmation that it will be possible to import SampleTank 2 combis in SampleTank 3. I don't have any more detail than that, that is the information sent to me. I hope that helps.

I for one can't wait to use the 64bit version with Logic X, I truly miss those sounds. Sampletank has always been a secret weapon to make things sound unique.

On the contrary, I don't understand why people come here and claim "this is just a vst". I prefer the love/hate attitude, because (1) it is more interesting; (2) it proves people loves Sampletank. At first I was upset because I did not understand the "hate" and mockery (so to speak) regarding ST3 here. For me ST is a great product, not "just a vst". The fact people feel disappointed, angry etc. about the lack of infos from IKM, their weird policy etc. means this product is still loved and needed. Something similar is happening with Sylenth1 AU (still 32 bit). You can even tell me "oh, it is just a trance oriented synth" and such, yet a lot of people are rather angry about Lennardigital continuous delays and still waiting for 64 bit. I solved with 32Lives, but I had to spend money. This is because I do suspect Sylenth1 64bit AU will never come out. The difference is: while LD is almost MUTE about Sylenth1 (no words about anything since years), ST3 is on youtube videos, NAMM show, "enthusiast Jordan Rudess playing it", as if it was already there. But it isn't :o That is my disappointment. Besides, everything is in english: I have difficulties to understand everything, let alone understood matters! Consequent redundance, sorry for that.
Its still just a vst lol. It will come when its time for it to come. Shooting the messenger won't change that. Some people are talking as if ST3 will bring the resurrection of James Brown with it doing duets with Billie Holiday with Rick James playing lead guitar or something. Side note when is any tool genre oriented? Sylenth is very popular in the hip hop crowd. I also want to see an update to Sylenth but I don't think Lennard is opposed to making it 64 bit since he did do so for the PC version. I remember hearing somewhere that there is an issue with Mac for 64 bit. I don't see anything wrong with IK promoting ST3 and people were bashing them when they had nothing to show. They bashed them for releasing stuff for iOS which is their main money maker I hear. I see people talk as if SampleTank is their only product and everything else is an after thought. I am a T-Racks guy myself. I love Sampletank but if I had to choose between it and T-Racks stuff I would take T-Racks every time.

It's just a VST, don't throw a rod. :nutter:
How can IK NOT know how much they are going to sell ST3 for? Why don't they understand how business works? Customer loyalty costs a fortune to get and to maintain, yet they are trying to screw over existing customers all the time - i.e. 7.99 euros to redownload a 15 euro expansion, soon adds up when you have ten of them. Utterly ridiculous and obvious money grubbing, are you going to defend that too?
Guitar Center leaked a price of $300 usd about a week ago. Just no date yet.

IIRC, when ST went from 2.0 to 2.5, there was a re-write of the combi patches to go with it because the old combi's didn't quite match up to the newer architecture. My memory is a bit fuzzy on this, but I do recall getting an entirely new bank of the factory patches.

i would think that the step up to v. 3 would create even more issues, no? But hey, if it works, it works.

Thanks, Peter. That is good news.

If and when you can, it would also be good to find out if we can use combis from the other "Powered by Sampletank" products. One thing I didn't like in 2.5 is that you could load sounds from the other products, but couldn't load their stock combis unless you used the interfaces for the individual VST's instead of ST.

Those Combis are loadable into ST2.5. But you need to move/copy them into a sub-folder in the ST2 Presets folder.

Well, that solves that. Thanks, DarkStar!

Peter, have you ever considered your avatar to be a subliminal of negativity?

It kind of impies that you either consider the company you work for to be akin to handling toxic waste OR that you believe the customer base to be so (or maybe both). Anyway you look at it, it seems to start everything off on a particular path.

@BBFG# - That's actually an image that used to be on their homepage. They have changed their site now and it no longer appears.

I never really understood what it meant though. Your analogy is spot on to what it made me think ;)

It has been used on our forum as my avatar, not our homepage. To answer, though:

No, I wish I had skills in subliminal advertising though.

Implies that to you, I now learn, and to me it means neither, actually.

Well apparently not any way as I look at it in a different way, apparently, since it never has started anything that I know of. Seems mild (since this is the first I've heard anything negative about it) compared to a company head calling this forum "the wild west of audio forums" or a company's official forum admin/moderator with their forum handle "RTFM" as two examples off the top of my head.

With apologies Peter....I thought for sure I had first ran across that image at the IK site some (long) time back.

I could be wrong ;) (obviously R )
