Hey guys,

I need a software, with which I can create simple video demos. For example a scale which always moves up when the kick hits. Of course I have to fill in nice text fields.
I will add video examples later but atm I am not able to do it, hipe you understood it :)

Free would be cool but almost impossible I think,

Thank you !

Blender is free and capable of anything up to full feature movies.

I love Blender, but it also comes with a learning curve like making a full feature movie ;)

I would recommend Adobe After Effects, but its the exact opposite of free. HitFilm is a cheaper alternative, but I don't use it and I'm not sure if it can do the audio reactive thing.
Incomplete list of my gear: 1/8" audio input jack.

Both look very nice. After effects is too expensive :D

Wow, thanks for pointing out the hitfilm offer. Very generous of them to give out $150 software for free. This isnt even the most stripped down version, it falls between normal and pro version.

Anyone remotely into video editing/fx should snag this offer before the 4th.

i don't have any *insight* into your quandry per se, but i can offer you my experience -

i use adobe premiere elements, which is a step up from windows movie maker, one more video track. i also use pov-ray, which *may* be slightly easier to learn than blender, for certain tasks, if one is comfortable with code and "constructive solids geometry". in other words, i have a few rudimentary methods with these apps and photoshop.

the key to working with these tools is labour. i work at 30 frames a second and for many animations, this is only a few frames. which means i can accomplish things, if i am willing to put in the effort. if you've got three seconds of kick drum on screen, that's only 90 edits. start typing.

i'm sure there are easier ways to accomplish most of the tasks i have attempted, but my software doesn't feature them. it is still possible to field something using eg. WMM and a still editor.

lucky FL Studio-User here using ZGameEditor Visualizer.

If you want to make some funny comic videos instead of boring scales, I'd recommend:

That (HitFilms) is a great find as After Effects alternative. I'll definitely pick that up.

What "HitFilms" can do, can be seen in videos by "Corridor Digital" - I think in the short "Prism":

And also in one or two follow up videos.

If you need a plain video cutting/compositing tool, then maybe take a look at "Lightworks". I considered this one for video tutorials until xNiMiNx made me aware of HitFilm Express.

Else, for screencasts and all these type of FX, maybe take a look at "Camtasia".

Thank you for mentioning this!! It is pretty nice.

Lightworks (http://www.lwks.com/) may be worth checking out. They have a free "lite" version, are cross-platform (WINDOWS/LINUX; 32 & 64-bit) and is either $79.99 annually, $7.99 monthly, or the software can be purchased for $279.99.
