I've owned Tabletop forever and I as much fun as it is, the sequencing is blah. Gadget kills it in that department - I just wish I had something as complete as the iMini in Gadget. I wouldn't be surprised if Korg adds something like a full Polysix, etc later.

Thanks, folks! I really appreciate the sequencer comments.

Inching closer to getting it.

I really like the sequencer too and I've used many others. I find the sounds of the gadgets very inspiring and still very tweakable even though they all have limited parameters. I use ipad to quickly sketch out sections of a song then export results as audio loops to a computer daw. Mixing on the ipad is too inefficient for me so I don't even try to complete whole songs. I expect that I won't be using the other ios apps I own very much any more. I'm expecting that working with fewer tools will streamline my workflow.

I just finished my first piece (a 15s composition) by exporting as a wave, pulling it into Logic & mixing it lightly. I added scenes with individual clips and ended up using those instead of the full mix and added a bass sound w/ Ultra Analog 2. Pretty smooth, from sketch to completion, just makes me want to immediately start a new track w/ Gadget :)

I'm experiencing this too. In relatively little time I've worked up 3 viable starts to songs in gadget. But I need to make myself put gadget down so I can finish a couple on the computer that are almost done.

I don't get the "sequencer" praise. It's very basic, yet fiddly if you're going for more that 12 second tests.

different strokes for different folks?

dunno what you're on about by "12 second tests". I'm one of the one's giving gadget's sequencer love and I've used it extensively for days. I'm guessing that others who've expressed love on this thread have also spent a fair amount of time.

If it helps, here's some more specificity about my experience:

I've used a boatload of other ios sequencers/arps which I never got on with: steppolyarp (have to set Y axis for sensible results, single sequence length), genome (awkard zooming, much fiddling with settings needed to do basic things), beatmaker (constant switching between modes).

"12 second tests" means the length of the tune, not the amount of time spent.

You know you can change the length of a clip from 1 to 8 bars and set a scene to repeat multiple times before going on to the next scene?

Exactly what live should have ages ago.

Haven't seen this posted here yet.

awesome tutorial on sequencing a full song

creative use of time signature changes = :-)

Great find! It's longer than 12 seconds too!

(sorry, couldn't help myself :))

Great. It's so intuitive you need a tutorial on how to build a song.

You didn't get the point.

No one understands the point you are attempting to make.
