Pissed off with Cakewalk's treatment of European Customers

Ever since Cakewalk have had Edirol has their distrubutor in Europe the service has been beyond crap. I have just been to the Edirol Website and surprise surprise there is no mention of Kinetic yet unofficial distrubtors edirol have a whole page devoted to it. Also, it would appear that there is no discount provided for European customers whereas in the US you can pick it up for $79 = around £40 for exisiting customers. Finally, I think somebody at Cakewalk should go to xe.com and check the exchange rate as $119 does not equate £99.

Move to Africa. Then you can order through CW's own web site.

I still prefer to deal with Et Cetera, CW's old distributor. It took about a week extra for them to actually get stock of S3 from Edirol UK (same for all the other retailers, tho') but they're nice, helpful people.
An idiot on Set Theory:
"In some cases there is an object called red that contains everything that is red. In much the same way a pot is a plate."

Yeah I just rang Edirol and they confirm this. This is really dissapointing. As a UK based registered P5 owner why should I have to pay more than twice as much as US based customers? Cakewalk - come on sort it out! Also, it would appear that there is no discount provided for European customers whereas in the US you can pick it up for $79 = around £40 for exisiting customers. Since Live 4's announcement Ive had a diffrent view of Cakewalk. As far as Im concerned they would have to have something insanely good for me to upgrade from Sonar 3PE.
I cant see it but Id like to be proved wrong.

Care to elaborate?...For speculation's sake? Are you saying there comes a point when there's no room for improvement?!eviltez wrote:...something insanely good for me to upgrade from Sonar 3PE...

I know where you're comin' from, but I can't sympathize unless you've had to pay Japanese prices for any of it...Philly wrote:As a UK based registered P5 owner why should I have to pay more than twice as much as US based customers? Cakewalk - come on sort it out!

Join the club. I had the same problem, except with Steinberg on this side of the world. I wanted to get the download version of V-Stack shortly after it was released. I couldn't complete the order form via element 5 because it wasn't available for non-Europeans at that time. Why is a damn download restricted? So don't think Cakewalk is the only company that does this.baggio wrote:Ever since Cakewalk have had Edirol has their distrubutor in Europe the service has been beyond crap. Its all to do with distribution rights. I don't have a problem with only being able to buy the product in Europe but if Cakewalk are going to do it this way then I would expect some transparency with their products ie. all owners of project 5 being able to take advantage of the special offer for Kinetic.

I'm really pissed off! Here in Finland, the upgrade from Sonar 2 to Sonar 3 Producer costs 345€ (~400USD)!!! It costs only 199USD in Cakewalk store! I don't know whose fault this is, USAs or Cakewalks, whatever, but that is insanity! It's double priced here!

Ecetera were always fair in their pricing and pretty much matched Cakewalk pricing in the US, but Edirol.....
I complained last year about the difference in upgrading pricing for Sonar and got some bullshit about the cost of producing multi-lingual european versions. That was after the bullshit they gave me about it being down to taxes. It would have been cheaper to buy it in the US and pay shipping and taxes, but of course Cakewalk won't let you order from their US web site (And when I asked why not , they said it was cause they now had to charge european customers vat and their web shop couldn't handle it - bollocks! )

Wow, reading all this is horrifying. Terrible business decisions. I think the only thing you can do is just not buy Cakewalk products if they are priced so unfairly, with poor support. Really, Sonar 3PE is highly overpriced even in North America...

Someone from cakewalk told me that I couldn't take advantage of the special offer on BBE Maximiser that is offered to US customers as it is a 3rd party plug in - I couldn't be bothered to tell him that cakewalk actually owns the rights to that plugin now.
I love Sonar but shit like this makes me think that maybe I will move to something else. Its crazy, they have tried really hard to get a customer base in Europe since launching Sonar and then cock it up by ripping their customer off. All I will say about Edirol is that it is part of evil Roland empire and that probably explains everything.
