Show me a great gui and i'll show you someone who thinks its crap. Being able to change the background and knobs is a great addition. (Especially for ppl who like to greyscale everything  )

As for converting presets and banks....why would you? They still work in V1, and both run side by side. Pointless exercise.

Anyway, as it is it will prob take an extra month, as no two ppl can agree on current gui suggestions
I don't think so, just take the OBXD. It's user interface was basically developed jointly by the KVR community. I have not seen anyone in that long thread who said the result was crap. Nor was I saying that Dune 1's was crap, far from it. I think it was slightly above average among proprietary synths.

I don't care if old patches are not compatible with v2 as I have not programmed any. But if v1 and v2 are not compatible, the synth should not bear the same name in my view. Unfortunately it was more or less obvious that patches would not be compatible, otherwise v2 would have been just a cosmetic upgrade.

I cant think of a single synth that has been updated from V1 to V2 for 'cosmetic reasons'

Any suggestions for new names? :hihi:

There are hundreds maybe thousands of commercial patches available for Dune 1. People who purchased a lot of them may care...and they may not. I personally have not purchased any but I do have quite a few of my own.

No it's not that obvious. I have a lot of plugins that have received significant upgrades and did not break backwards compatibility. I'd have a ton of version 1 plugins installed if all of them broke backwards compatibility. No one expects forward compatibility as then it would just be a cosmetic upgrade.

Which is why I've proposed calling this Dune Pro rather than version 2. I feel there has been a significant enough of an upgrade to sound, feature and function that this version deserves the Pro label similar in concept to Discovery/Discovery Pro.

Well, it depends on what aspect is being upgraded. Sometimes developers add new features that will simply be ignored when using old patches. But when the sound engine as such is change, the architecture expanded, etc., then I am not surprised there is no compatibility.

In terms of names, I don't like Pro as it implies that v1 was not professional.
It would help to find a new name if we knew what the key feature of v2 is
