Hi Stephan,
if you own the full version, please send me e-mail to the info@m...s.com address and I'll send you the download instructions.
Please note that the beta is built only for the full version for the windows platform, so no LE, demo, or OS X or any combinations of these, sorry.
Thanks,
Attila

How do I ghost copy a phrase in the latest beta (v2.56b9)? When I Alt+Shift+Drag a phrase in the composition window, the notes in the phrase slide over within the confines of that phrase.

I have noticed on a number of occasions when I click the "Save Composition" button for a composition that I have already saved previously, I get the "Save Composition As..." behavior instead (i.e. I have to specify a new filename for the composition):

This behavior manifests itself after I have used "Ctrl-Z" to undo an edit.

There is a sneaky little bug in the structure window...
Setup: Create a part and then insert another part after it. The new second part will have copied the structure of the previous first part:

1. Delete some of the lines from the second part (in the screenshot, I've deleted the first two lines ).
2. Right-click the first line of the second part (I've right-clicked "Line 3" in my screenshot).
3. In the Master Track pop-up dialog, change the name of the first line to "Line 1" (or any "Line n" for that matter) and hit the Enter key:

RC deletes your line from the composition (I have even witnessed RC delete an entire part from the composition instead)!

I have found a workaround to this issue:
1. Immediately hit "Ctrl-Z" to recover the deleted line or part (you may have to repeat the previous step of deleting the line as one Undo step may actually take you back more than one step).
2. Now, instead of renaming your line to be "Line 1", you can coax the desired effect of having RC create the default sequentially-numbered "Line" names (starting from Line 1) simply by erasing the entire line name in the Master Track pop-up dialog and hitting the Enter key:

3. Repeat the workaround to rename any remaining lines to be renumbered sequentially:

I'd like to report a really big spider. It's got very tall knees, hairy legs and keeps chasing me around the shower. It's too fast to hit with a stick and I don't wanna spray it because my Mrs has had chemotherapy and has had enough nasty chemicals for one lifetime.
Any suggestions?

You can do what my Mrs. and I do. We have a wide-mouthed glass jar that we use to surround and capture the spider and then let it go outside the premises.werp wrote:I'd like to report a really big spider. Taking the animal's life is rarely necessary.

With a large bowl or even a salad bowl if it runs very quickly. Then once the spider is under, you slip a large (larger than the bowl) cardboard very rigid under the bowl. Then your wife being in a very weak condition due to cancer and chemiotherapy... the best is to kill the spider immediatly! Don't even try to identify the species. Keep your wife away for several minutes or even for half an hour, and pelt generously an insecticid between the bowl and the cardboard with a lot of prudence. Don't throw it outside being alive. If you take it away your home... it will come back. And your wife isn't in a state of health to accept that.
Beware! In Australia, many spiders are very dangerous. Even is there has been no death for the last twenty years, some provoke very deep necrosis to the tissues (as well as the Brown Recluse in USA) and some are deadly:

It is only a spider -- not a vicious, rabid dog -- even brown recluse spiders are not so hostile and ill-tempered. Most spiders only bite when they are trapped (e.g. you rolled over onto one that was crawling in your bed, or you slid your leg into a boot it was hiding in, etc.) or if they feel threatened (usually by other spiders). I don't think a large salad bowl would be seen as threat to a spider -- they climb into containers willingly all the time. Also, spiders find their way into people's homes all of the time -- the one that you released outside into your garden is not necessarily the same one you find in your home later. Does this single spider really need to be eradicated from the face of the earth???BlackWinny wrote:the best is to kill the spider immediatly!
BTW: How did this software application "Bug Reports" thread get mistaken for a forum about pest control?

Because werp is a known KVR prankster. Bug=pest, pest reports=bug reports.
Attila has done a great job squashing the bugs and werp thought he could get some help in squashing his bugs. You have to understand those down under, after all they have Fosters
Werp is still a good guy though so let him breath.
Happy Musiking!

Right, this got broken when Shift-drag was introduced.tonedef71 wrote:How do I ghost copy a phrase in the latest beta (v2.56b9)? When I Alt+Shift+Drag a phrase in the composition window, the notes in the phrase slide over within the confines of that phrase.
A new beta is uploaded (only windows, full version) with working ghost copy.
In addition an 'Unghost' option is available in the phrase inspector.
Thanks for reporting this, I did not realize that it stopped working.

I found that holding down more than one key while dragging with the mouse to be uncomfortable and sometimes clumsy (as mouse dragging can certainly be). I am wondering about an alternative way to accomplish the task of ghost enabling/disabling a phrase. What if instead of Alt+Shift+drag for ghost copy, a user can just right click a copied phrase (or any phrase they wish to re-assign, for that matter) and enable the ghost mode? Disabling a ghosted phrase could be accomplished via a right-click option as well.
So, for specifying the phrase to be a ghost copy of, RC could use a previously selected phrase (along the lines of how "fill track with the currently selected phrase" works today). Now, I'm assuming, of course, that the process of right-clicking (or meta-clicking on OS X) the phrase to be ghost-enabled does not shift selection from the currently selected phrase to the right-clicked one. I am not currently at my PC that has RC installed, so I cannot verify the current behavior of right-clicking phrases.
EDIT: The process of right-clicking (or meta-clicking on OS X) the phrase to be ghost-enabled does shift selection from the currently selected phrase to the right-clicked one, so that will not work. So much for that idea.

I still would like to point out that spiders are not insects; arachnids are joint-legged invertebrate animals. Squashing them is cruel -- as cruel as crushing a bat, a squirrel, a rabbit, a beaver, a gopher, a snake, a mouse, an earth worm, or any other animal that could be considered a pest. Killing them should not be the first resort considered.
