Hi Thomas, i don't know if you answered this yet, but does bounce in place work in Drum Rack tracks?

In Ableton, i can edit the MIDI data on the drum rack track itself, but if i want to have for example just the snare drum as an audio file so i can then reverse it, pitch it or whatever editing i'd like to do, i have to route it to an audio track and hit record. Would be a real timesaver if BWS handled this differently.

And for the three-monitor setup, is it possible to have Arrangement/Clip launcher on one monitor, Mixer/Device lane on the second and MIDI/Audio editor on the third?

I guess i could just wait another month and then see for myself, but you know how it is with kids and new, shiny toys... :D

I'm pretty interested to see not only crossfades but if/how they could work in stuff beyond that, like comping, takes, overdub/sound on sound within clips, etc. You don't want to over-complicate such a clean straightforward daw like bitwig/live of course but they are so good at coming up with slick stuff I have to wonder what could be.

That could be cool.

Beta 11 is out with many bugfixes, updated graphics etc...

The three Monitor setup is laid out exactly as you wish ;-)

With the bounce in place, do you mean if you can bounce each drum pad separately or the whole track?

Cheers,

Tom

I just checked: you can bounce in place from the DrumMachine like any other instrument/track. You then can cut the resulting audio to do what you want. I haven't found a way to do the same for the individual pads.

Hi everyone! A quick question: I read that the way Bitwig handled MIDI made it difficult to use arpeggiator plugins like Cthulhu is that still the case? :ud:

I don't know what you read where, but it's rather the opposite IMHO: Since you can have Midi VSTs in the same device chain as instruments and effects (which many other hosts don't allow) I find it great to use this way.
I don't have Cthulhu, but tools like Thesys, Nova or Axon work much easier as for instance in Live, since they don't need another track.

Awesome! Thank you Tom! I got the info from a post on page 130, I guess it's old news by now :)

Yeah, it's actually my favourite FR I got through ;-)
I'm a sucker for midi plugins...
There are still some things needed to improve with Midi-Routing for later versions, but this one change alone made a huge difference for me.

Cheers,

Tom

Page 130 - oh innocent youth, where art though... ;-)

Hi Thomas, thanks for your answer. Nice to hear about the Monitor setup, can't wait to try it out myself...

Yes, i meant bouncing single pads of the drum rack, too bad this isn't possible (yet). But i guess i can always just solo the Snare/Hihat/Whatever and then bounce that.

But thanks again for the info.

I have read the thread but I could not find the answer to my question.
I'm sorry i f this has already been asked, and that would be very kind if someone can answer me :

- Does Bitwig Studio have some fade ins and fade outs between audio clip, maybe on the session view, to make sweet transitions between them, have them overlap slightly and do a volume crossover ?

Cheers,
B.
Not at the moment, and I think this will be one major Feature Request from basically everybody after the release ;-)
There is a fade in and fade out button for audio events, but those seem to be only to suppress clicks. You can't overlap audio at all in BWS.
The workaround right now is using two tracks, which isn't too painful since you can work in multiple tracks at once with layered editing. But the fades would have to be done with volume automation which isn't as convenient as having direct handles to drag.

Cheers,

Tom
I dislike the Fade-In Fade-Out handles in Live (which are volume automation)

Thank you all for your input on touchscreens, btw let me note that there is some affordable wacom pen. Or things like this http://www.asus.com/Tablets_Mobile/ASUS ... e_8_M80TA/

Anyway it isnt powerful but the latest quad-core A4-5000/Atoms are actually more powerful than my last PC (which I could do music on, sometimes it required some freezing but that is ok) but the notebook version of those are more expensive than the tablet version while battery life is a lot worse.

Personally I am really curious to know how well BWS would work, although I probably would still prefer a real notebook with a touchscreen

ThomasHelzle wrote:When I wrote "serious work", I explicitly referred to being able to do "everything" with it. A wacom tablet or a mouse wins this contest as you said.

As fun as leap motion, touch and all this stuff is, I wouldn't want to have to use it for most of what I do.
Makes perfect sense Thomas, and yes, I got your meaning there... I always get your meaning tbh, your comments are never "fuzzy". ;)

Anyway, the single most "alluring" thing about touchscreens is (obviously) multi-touch... but like you say... that by itself, as nice as it can be ... doesn't really make up for and/or balance out the relative weaknesses as relates to detailed editing.

I do suppose if Edward Scissorhands had some good attachments for that, it might be all be much nicer for him. :hihi:

hehehe - now the mixture of cats and edward makes for some astonishing images in my mind ;-)

BTW. I just realized that I mentioned wacoms in my last posts as if they were supported... sorry for that. So to "unfuzz" this too: BWS doesn't "support" Wacom tablets atm. Most things work just fine but sliders tend to go way too fast. I have a FR in for it, but since hardly any musicians use wacoms, it's not very high on the list I fear.

It took Live ages to implement the AbsoluteMouseMode setting in the options.txt ....
https://www.ableton.com/en/articles/opt ... file-live/
I hope BWS doesn't follow this lead too closely ;-)

Yeah, Multitouch could be nice - I actually have a multitouch wacom intuous 5.
Don't buy one, the touch implementation is crap... :-(
Best thing about it is that it can be disabled... ;-)

Cheers,

Tom
