Yeah, I guess their download server for the demo should be rather well equipped ;-)

I wish them success.
Live needs an alternative badly and it's time for some fresh concepts in the DAW world.

But I also expect a rather heated debate for a while after the release. Many people seem to have built up quite some internal pressure about the application which inadvertently will lead to a lot of dramatic venting. ;-)

Since Live is so extremely well established, many people will on one hand be very interested, but on the other unwilling to leave the thing they know for something new. And of course Live offers quite a lot that will be "missing" in BWS for a while.
Since prices are similar, people already heavily invested in the Live-Universe will have a harder time to justify investing in a second similar DAW.

Should be interesting to see how it all turns out in the end! :-)

Cheers,

Tom

Given all the funny cats over the last 18 months and the subjectively long wait and the relative anxiety of all the people waiting, it will be near impossible for old dogs like me to resist trying the demo.

If I were actually waiting to use it the release date would be good, it's the day after my birthday. :)

That makes a very good "sum it all" and pre-release interview IMO.
It also clarifies a few things about the early promotion, and the waiting time before release.
Well, Bitwig Studio was coded from scratch, and took as long for us to finish making it as it did for Logic’s to update from version 9 to 10, or for Ableton to upgrade from 8 to 9. So it’s all subjective. People were a bit impatient because they felt that the beta phase was so long. But it’s not like we only had to add new features to an already-existing product and run a short beta phase with our user community, such as with a version upgrade. We started beta testing when the product wasn’t even complete, simply because we wanted to test it’s core features. You couldn’t even make full tracks when the testing phase began. We could only run tests on the modular system. Then we extended the beta to more people as we went along.
When a popular company like Apple puts out a product, they already have marketing channels and distributions outlets that they’ve built up over the years, so they can work in silence until they’re ready to release their products, and then have the benefit of other parties that will help market it for them. We couldn’t do that. We have set up all our distribution channels and have them announce our product to their customers. If we don’t do things like, people wouldn’t know about us or take us seriously. So I think we have a good chance of success.
The good image goes with a good product.

but why does it have to look so clunky-shitty and "wanna-be" pop culture srtly?

all those frames cost space. etc the window i work most of the time in (sequencer) is pretty small..
I hope you can edit / change the window look / feel / behaviour / size and reduce it to raw functional design.. i will try the demo but. i will not use a hip-pop culture sw that doesnt work, like reason or ableton crap.

the internet multi document modus is cool though...

I can understand not liking the look, but where is this wasted space you're seeing? It looks very functional to me. I'm pretty sure there will be no option for a different theme for v1. Also, ableton and reason work well and plenty of people use them. Actually I think reason has a great reputation for being stable, partly due to the fact that it didn't use plugs for most of its life. Maybe you had trouble figuring them out or they were not your style?

The tracks and pianoroll must be the place users work most of the time in. And they seem small unless you everytime resize or tap show/hide command, because we can't rearrange the place of areas to fit confortably on each users screen aspect ratio.
