Yes, this is fixed in the new beta (v2.56b12) that was uploaded yesterday!
There are new features that you might want to check out:

- MIDI drag-and-drop improvements: drag selected range on the timeline or active part/line only. MIDI drag-and-drop will not drag the whole composition from start to end as before. If you have a range selected on the timeline, only the notes in the range will be dragged. Otherwise the active part/line/composition in the structure inspector is used.

- Strings Staccato phrase generator added

Where is the Strings Staccato phrase generator? I've got the Phrases window open now, and it's not under the Generators (which has under it Bass, Chord, Fingerpicking Generic, Line Melody, Phrase Morpher and Thirds Run Generator -- the same as before). I'm using the Mac RC v2.56b12 version.

PS the new midi drag and drop feature sounds really really great and very helpful

Just tried this and it didn't work. (OS 10.6.8, RC 2.56b12)

The midi file was the entire piece, not just the 1 bar selected in the timeline. Tried both drag and drop methods (control key and click & drag note icon on left, and single track method via clicking control key and click & drag the track name). Bummer, I really wanted this new feature to work. Am I doing something wrong, or maybe this didn't make it into this beta???

Hi David,
the OS X version was built before these features were added, but now I rebuilt it, so please download it again. There was a small mismatch in version numbers between mac and pc...
Did you try the VST plug-in? Does it work better in DP8 than before?

Hi Attila, just downloaded the updated Mac beta, tried the drag & drop w/ a bar selected, and it seems to be cutting the exported midi file short a bit at the end, about 3/4 of a beat or so. Hopefully you can tweak to fix.

Oh, yes, that is true. It is being fixed. If the note Off event is outside the range or at the right boundary, this happens.

Hi,
just realized

i can get exact chord track with sustain notes if i use Chord Generator (1/4 , 1/8 divisions)
with Join Notes Variation ! i have to confess, this made me more happy now!
and here is the little report:
Join Notes as a Track Variation works as i expect
not sure but as a phrase variation seems we have a bug.( ? )

because it was really useful when you insert long file names. imho

I noticed a bug with the Melody Generator. If you change any of the Generator Properties in the Phrase Inspector of a Melody Generator, they do not get persisted; if you re-visit an instance of a Melody Generator (which you had previously modified the Generator Properties of), its Generator Properties are all reset back to the defaults!

I also have an enhancement request for the Melody Generator: I would like to use the Melody Generator to generate melodic bass lines, but the current minimum key range is not low enough. Would you please drop the lowest key in the key range down to maybe C0?

EDIT: I guess I would like to be able to use the Melody Generator to create all sorts of monophonic phrases; perhaps we need a generic monophonic phrase generator?

Hi,
Quantize Variation seems has bug when used as track variation
its ok as a phrase variation ..
simple reproduce:
16 bars long part
Staccato generator (filled to 16 bars with repeat mode)
Quantize Variation (s) set to Eight Note Triplets

here is the example project to checking A/B easily..
track 1 has 2 variations one in the track one in the phrase.

Staccato generator has a density setting, and the melody generator was modified to allow notes from C0. The new timeline range selection will work shortly and the phrase filling will respect the selected range.

Found a little bug which concerns the GUI :

Very easy to reproduce. But beware... after that it is very often necessary to remove these files (else the application refuses to reload correctly, even with Ctrl pressed):

Once they are removed everything get back to normal, the application can be relaunched... but the project is lost of course.

Cubase 7.5 with RC VSTi x64 hangs on reopening a project if in between saving and later reopening RC was opened stand alone and the midi port was changed.

It seems that either Cubase cannot 'tell' RC to change back to the prior midi port (which I don't think is likely) or RC VSTi is unable to respond to the saved state messages from the Cubase Project.

This behavior may be a source of some other issues with the RC VSTi. I believe this must either be a bug or a design problem, as I think any saved project should be able to open with RC VSTi using whatever midi port was used in the saved project.
