Hi KvRians,

As the much anticipated off line mode for Ohm Studio is cooking we need your feedback to adjust the details. Answer just five questions, shape Ohm Studio's future and you can even win an Ohm Studio Pro XL with 3 month subscritption*. It's this way.

We're asking here because we also need feedback from people who were not interested in Ohm Studio so far. KvR seems like the place =)

Note that this survey is only relevant if you don't have an ohm studio account. If you've already tried Ohm Studio but don't use it, it's here, and if you bought it, it's here.

You can comment you answers in the survey but if you want to discuss it here, that's fine too.

Cheers,

- Red

nevermind.

I tried it recently and it seems like a nice little DAW, but I didnt have any interest in the chat/collaboration side of it. (It almost seems rude of me to say that, since thats the main focus of the application)

I also was put off hugely by a subscription payment model. I dont do this at all for software. I'm mentioning that here as its not part of the survey.

However I did like it as a DAW, so if you are considering an offline/local option then I think if it was competetively priced it'd do well

just my 2p :)

I participated in the first beta, and have to say, I was really excited as it is indeed a nice DAW, until they announced the subscription model. I've never pulled out of a beta before, until this. It really left a sour taste in my mouth as I can't stand subscription based software. Also, just my 2c, no malice or anything intended.

I also despise subscription models. I think it's arrogance on behalf of developers to actually think that people would want to pay a regular subscription for unexceptional software. There's just too much choice out there. Forget f'in surveys.

Non-subscription price might make sense for strictly offline version of the SW.
Running cloud services costs money and companies try to cover those costs with monthly fees.

Post

I won't even consider it if it has a subscription based business model.

Same for me.
No band limits, aliasing is the noise of freedom!

For me as well. I want to pay "once" and then be done with it.
On that behalf, a "multi channel render" option like iN Cubase would be nice. To back up projects. Or continue working in other hosts.

I also just took the survey, just out of pure curiosity and since I was eyeing OhmStudio the other month. Still, I could not enter any data for entry... Whatever... I'm stuffed with Cubase, Wavelab, ProTools (at clients places), Logic (at clients places) and several modular environments.

I'd only get Ohm Studio for collaborations. But since that won't happen anytime soon...

I think the whole concept is the wave of the future. the near future. awesome job guys on being one of the first.

as far as a monthly subscription.. not sure how you could Not have some sort of fees when having the cloud based stuff. maybe just have a yearly fee that is included in the purchase of the program and every year have a major Paid update or something?

I would use this cloud based thing actually.. will have to give it a go..

offline mode is always a must. the "option"

Ohm Studio is one of the better UI designs (imo) that I've seen in a good while. While all 1.x's have their subjective workflow flaws, I really do like that UI and it's methodologies. It's very well thought out and very pleasing visually.

Having said all that, I'd personally never pay a monthly subscription to use any software. Mmv on that as usual.

But major props to whoever designed that UI. :tu: Great (if not exceptional) work... imo.

Ok, let's clarify this license thing:

- the point of off line mode is precisely to allow you to use it without paying for the cloud. If you look at our pricing scheme license for the software and for using more project than 10 projects in the cloud service are totally separated. You can have one and not the other, or both, or none.

- as pointed out we do pay monthly for storage and bandwith to Amazon S3. We have to deal with what we have.

Again - I'm against annual fees.

It makes me feel unappreciated, being ripped off.

Actually... companies like Steinberg, Cakewalk and AVID, who did and still do pretty much the same thing every year (asking for software updates) clearly show you: "we appreciate you - as long as you pay to stay up to date".

The recent faux pas with Steinberg, AVID and certain other companies asking for annual fees should clearly show "this is not how you do it".

But then again - what do I know - I'm just a "user" of this (general) software.

+1

Sorry Red Force. Maybe I misunderstood the pricing model.

Is 99€ a one time charge or a yearly fee? I mean, if someone pays 99€ can they just use it indefinitely without paying again or is it a yearly subscription? If the former, that's my misunderstanding.

I thought you were asking - if - people would be interested in just buying it outright, not using any of the cloud parts.

Thanks.
