Hi everyone,

Just getting slightly frustrated with the lack of options for a decent multi shelved desk for my kit. Looking deffo in the sub £200 region.

I have a widescreen monitor, a pair of hs80ms a virus ti as master keyboard and a few other knick nacks but thats the main bulky stuff.

I have a limited space in my room say = or less than 46" wide but work 5 days a week and don't have a car - so in the highly likely event im not in when a courier comes - I don't have a way to pick it up from a sorting office.

So far main contender has been this: this appart from the deilvery issue :?

Anyone know best way round this. I've recently moved to London and got rid of car so have not usually had this issue!

Cheers

I wound up building my own. I had specific needs -- I wanted to accomodate two 21" LCD screens, my nearfield monitors, under-desk keyboard tray, and have plenty of desk room for controllers and other stuff, yet still fit in a fairly limited space. I also wanted this to be a standing desk.

I bought a couple of adjustable heavy-duty sawhorses, MDF for the surface, and long 2x6 boards to support them underneath. I unscrewed the under-desk keyboard tray and drawer from my old desk and just attached them to the bottom of this "desk". I built a low shelf for my LCD screens, and taller stands for my monitors, from 2x6s.

It's not pretty, and the speaker stands could take up less desk space -- but it works for me, was 100% customizable as far as size goes, and it was cheap -- about $70 overall, most of which was the two fancy sawhorses. Cheaper, fixed sawhorses would save some money, but I keep a laser printer on this desk along with other things and I wanted to overengineer it, and anytime I want to give up on the standing desk concept I can lower the sawhorse height.

If I were going to do it again, or take everything off and rebuild, I'd consider putting some kind of nicer surface on the MDF. At my old office I had a desk covered in black gaffer tape, which was pretty great actually.
